(03.01 MC)Maria and Edwin have $23.00 each to spend at a book fair, where all students receive a 25% discount. They both want to

purchase a copy of the same book, which normally sells for $26.50 plus 10% sales tax. To check if she has enough to purchase the book, Maria takes 25% of $26.50 and subtracts that amount from the normal price. She takes 10% of the discounted selling price and adds it back to find the purchase amount. Edwin takes 75% of the normal purchase price and then computes 110% of the reduced price. Is Maria correct? Is Edwin correct? Do they have enough money to purchase the book? Explain your answer using complete sentences, and show your work. Also can you show the work too please???

Both Maria and Edwin get the same price on the end.
$26.50*75%/100=$19.875
$19.875*10%/100+$19.875=$21.86
They are purchased copy of the book for $21.86 each.
Theay have $1.14 after purchasing both.

a crane cable can support a maximum load of 15,000 kg. if a bucket has a mass of 2,000 kg and gravel has a mass of 1,500 kg for
Brut [27]
2000 + 1500g ≤ 15000
1500g ≤ 15000 - 2000
1500g ≤ 13000
g ≤ 13000/1500
g ≤ 8 2/3

Therefore, the crane can safely lift a maximum of 8 2/3 cubic meters of gravel.

The density of granite is about 2.75 grams per cubic centimeter. Suppose you have a granite countertop for a kitchen that is 1 m
stellarik [79]

Answer:

330\ kg

Step-by-step explanation:

Remember that

1 kg=1,000 g

1 m= 100 cm

The volume of the granite countertop in cubic centimeters is equal to

V=(100)(300)(4)\ cm^{3}

The density in kg per cubic centimeter is equal to

D=2.75(\frac{1}{1,000}) \frac{kg}{cm^{3}}

Multiply the density by the volume

2.75(\frac{1}{1,000})(100)(300)(4)

2.75(120)=330\ kg

A rectangular prism has a volume of 170 cubic centimeters. The length of the prism is 5 centimeters, and the height of the prism
luda_lava [24]

Answer:

The width of the prism is 2 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

The given parameters are;

The volume of the prism = 170 cm³

The length of the prism = 5 cm

The height of the prism = 17 cm

The volume of the prism is given by the  relationship v = Length, l × Height, h × Width, w

Therefore;

The volume of the prism = 5 cm × 17 cm × w = 170 cm³

Which gives;

w = 170 cm³/(5 cm × 17 cm) = 170 cm³/(85 cm) = 2 cm

∴ The width of the prism = 2 cm.

The multiplication law is potentially helpful when we are interested in computing the probability of a. mutually exclusive event
Korvikt [17]

Answer:

b )  the intersection of two events

Step-by-step explanation:

Gary and Steve are both hosting . There are 50 buttons total, 15 buttons are blue and 27 buttons are red. Gary puts all of the buttons into a bag. Steve and Gary both want to wear red buttons.What is the probability ? To solve this problem, you need to understand the Multiplication Rule of Probability.This probability  means to find the probability of the intersection of two events, multiply the two probabilities.

Probability of two events occurring that is called intersection of two events. There are two different set of events , called independent and dependent events.

Independent events  event is not affected by a previous event.

A dependent event is when one event influences the outcome of another event . To find the intersection of two events, whether they are independent or dependent, multiply the two probabilities together.
