A science test, which is worth 100 points, consists of 24 questions. Each question is worth either 3 points or 5 points. If x is

the number of 3-point questions and y is the number of 5-point questions, the system shown represents this situation. x + y = 24 3x + 5y = 100 What does the solution of this system indicate about the questions on the test? The test contains 4 three-point questions and 20 five-point questions. The test contains 10 three-point questions and 14 five-point questions. The test contains 14 three-point questions and 10 five-point questions. The test contains 20 three-point questions and 8 five-point questions.

You need to solve for one variable in equation 1 and substitute it in equation 2 to solve.

Equation 1: x+y=24
x= number of 3 pt questions
y= number of 5 pt questions
24= Total number of questions

Equation 2: 3x+5y=100
100= Total point value possible on test
3x= point value of 3 pt questions
5y= point value of 5 pt questions

x+y=24
Subtract y from both sides
x=24-y

Substitute in equation 2:
3x+5y=100
3(24-y) +5y=100
72-3y+5y=100
72+2y=100
Subtract 72 from both sides
2y=28
Divide both sides by 2
y=14

Substitute y=14 back in to solve for x:
3x+5y=100
3x+5(14)=100
3x+70=100
Subtract 70 from both sides
3x=30
Divide both sides by 3
x=10

So there are 10 three point questions
There are 14 five point questions.

Hope this helped! :)

Looking at the image attached, we can see the assumed sales of the Chewy Candy Company for its new candy bar in Manila and Seoul. Setting up the given condition for separate branches, we clearly see that during the 6th month, the total sales in Manila first exceeded the cumulative total sales in Seoul.

What is the additive identity of the complex number 14 + 5i?
Naddika [18.5K]

Answer: B) 0

Step-by-step explanation:

1. When you add complex numbers you must add the whole parts and then the imaginary parts.

2. One of the properties of complex numbers is called "Additive identity" which is represented by:

0+0i

3. Then, for the complex number 14+5i, you have:

(14+5i)+(0+0i)=(14+0)+(5+0)i=14+5i

4. Therefore, the answer is the option B.

The graph of f(x) = 4x3 – 13x2 + 9x + 2 is shown below. On a coordinate plane, a function is shown. The function starts from the
iris [78.8K]

Answer:

3

Step-by-step explanation:

f(x) = 4x^3 – 13x^2 + 9x + 2

This looks complicated but all we need to find are the Roots

We are looking for when y=0

So given each part of the information, we can label how many times it happens

<em>The function starts from the bottom of quadrant 3: </em><u>Starts lower left</u>

<em> and goes up through the x-axis at (0, negative 0.25) </em>: This is ONE ROOT

<em>and then through the y-axis at (0, 2). : It's now on the 2nd quartile</em>

<em>It then starts to curve down at (0.5, 4): It's moving towards y=0</em>

<em>until it reaches (1.75, negative 0.5).: </em>It has now passed y=o and there are TWO ROOTS

<em> It then curves up and crosses the x-axis at (2, 0) and goes up approaching x = 3: </em>It has passed y=0 again, so there are THREE ROOTS

This polynomial function has 3 ROOTS
