The only thing i could think about when i was laying on the ground with my eyse closed was "will i be able to come out?' it started with imaginging i was laying on the beach with the sun on my face and skin but took a sudden turn when my mind couldnt shut off about my sad place, my sad place brought me to when i imagined i was in a basement in the cold and damp and the only poeple that visited me was the peopel who came to laugh at me as my misery gave them misery, on the count of three i suddenly came out of my sad place but was in tears. when going around the room my teacher asked if i got to my happy place and the only words i could get out through my throbbing throat was ' i couldnt come out"

Which question below best describes the main conflict in "Sixteen " How does the narrator convince the reader that she is a worl
lukranit [14]

Answer:

 • How does the narrator deal with the disappointment of unfulfilled promises?

Explanation:

Maureen Daly utilizes a first-person narrator in "Sixteen." As the story starts, the storyteller, who is the hero, makes a huge effort to tell the peruser that she is common in a teenaged kind of way.

She comprehends what the most recent styles are, she pursues the present articles and tunes in to the radio. She needs you to realize that she isn't only a senseless young lady.

When she adventures out to the skating arena on a virus winter night, she portrays the magnificence of the stars, the moon, the crunchy snow, and the sounds at the arena. It appears that she is an instinctive, nitty gritty situated, young lady by they way she introduces herself and thinks about her things. She puts her shoes off the beaten path in the skate shack to protect them. She is an objective mastermind.

"Editha" by William Dean Howells is a story about characters who ritualistically follow the popular beliefs and norms of society
oksian1 [2.3K]

Answer:

It was very low inside the house, and so dim, with the closed blinds, that they could scarcely see one another;

Her father standing decorously apart with his hat on his forearm, as at funerals; a woman rested in a deep arm-chair, and the woman who had let the strangers in stood behind the chair.

Editha, by William Dean Howells, is an antiwar story published in 1905. Its characters are people who greatly value custom and ritual, even when it is objectively inconvenient or awkward for them to do so.

The two chosen lines exemplify that character trait. In the first sentence, the house has the blinds closed, as was common for houses where the family had recently experienced a loss or a tragedy. This rule is followed, even though it meant that the characters were barely able to see each other.

The second sentence has a similar example, as Edith's father stands at a distance and with his hat in his hands. We are told this is the way it is done at funerals, which is consistent with the previous sentence and with the character's personality traits.

Which describes the most important structural similarity of “back to my own country; an essay” and “shooting an elephant”?
Black_prince [1.1K]

Answer:

Both of these essays are based on personal commentary and have a straight forward writing style.

Explanation:

Shooting An Elephant is an excellent heart-wrenching narration written by George Orwell. While Back To My Own Country is a thought-provoking essay written by Andrea Levy. These pieces of literature elaborate on a similar theme as well. They talk about social colonial evils.

George emphasizes on heinous animal cruelty and exemplifies elephants as generous beings. He also sheds light on British imperialism.

Andrea Levy talks about social injustice committed against the black people. She also describes the general air of Britain during the 1500s - 1800s. According to her, black people contributed a lot to Modern Britain.

Why did Swift publish his ideas in satirical format?
12345 [234]
He published his ideas in satirical format because he wanted to make fun of the country and the society. He believed that the people and the country were being truly corrupt and wanted to point that out while making fun of them.
