Fiona started her study of bacteria growth with 1,000 bacteria in a petri dish. After 1 hour, the count was increased to 1,800.

After 2 hours, the count was 3,240. After the third hour showed a count of 5,832, Fiona wrote an equation to represent the exponential growth of the bacteria. What exponential growth function did Fiona write?

Answer:

An exponential growth function is given by:

f(x)=y=ab^x .....[1]where a is the initial value and b is the growth factor.

As per the given statement: Fiona started her study of bacteria growth with 1,000 bacteria in a petri dish.

⇒Initial value(a) = 1000

Also, it is given that:  After 1 hour, the count was increased to 1,800. After 2 hours, the count was 3,240. also, After the third hour showed a count of 5,832,

Let x represents the time in hour and y represents thee count of bacteria.

Then; from the statement we have;

(1, 1800) and (2, 3240)

Now, using these point we find the exponential growth function;

Substitute these in [1] we get;

1800 = ab         .....[2]

3240 =ab^2         ....[3]

Divide equation [3] by [2] we get;

\frac{3240}{1800}=\frac{ab^2}{ab}

Simplify:

1.8 = b

Now, substitute the value of a =1000 and b = 1.8 in [1] we get;

f(x) = 1000 \cdot (1.8)^x

Therefore, the exponential growth function is, f(x) = 1000 \cdot (1.8)^x

valentinak56 [21]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

To calculate the weighted moving average for period 13 with weights 0.4 and 0.3.

P13 = (30.7x 0.4) + (42.0x 0.3)

P13 = 12.28 + 12.60

P13 = 24.88

A rectangle has a length that is equal to 4 less than twice the width. The function for the perimeter depending on the width can
Lady_Fox [76]

Answer:

The mathematical domain includes all real numbers, while the reasonable domain includes only real numbers greater than 2

Step-by-step explanation:

In the real world, length and width only make sense when they are positive. For that to be the case, the width must be greater than 2. There is nothing in the description that restricts the values to integers.

Ria can paint a room in 4 hours. Destiny can paint the same room in 6 hours. How long would it take Ria and Destiny to paint the
Lerok [7]

Time taken by Ria to paint a room = 4 hours

Time taken by Destiny to paint a room = 6 hours

If they work together, they complete 1 job. So,

\frac{1x}{4}+\frac{1x}{6}=1

The LCD of 4 and 6 is 12

\frac{3x+2x}{12}=1

\frac{5x}{12}=1

5x=12

x=\frac{12}{5}

Hence, both of them can paint the room in \frac{12}{5} hours or 2.4 hours.

A computer program contains one error. In order to find the error, we split the program into 6 blocks and test two of them, sele
Aleksandr-060686 [28]
There are \dbinom62 ways of selecting two of the six blocks at random. The probability that one of them contains an error is

\dfrac{\dbinom11\dbinom51}{\dbinom62}=\dfrac5{15}=\dfrac13

So X has probability mass function

f_X(x)=\begin{cases}\dfrac13&\text{for }x=1\\\\\dfrac23&\text{for }x=0\end{cases}

These are the only two cases since there is only one error known to exist in the code; any two blocks of code chosen at random must either contain the error or not.

The expected value of finding an error is then

\displaystyle\sum_{x=0}^1xf_X(x)=0\times\dfrac23+1\times\dfrac13=\dfrac13
