Some of the organisms have evolved in such a way that they remain inactive when the predator populations are active.

Adaptive theory of sleep suggests that the prey population prefer to sleep when (in this case, at night) the predators are most active. The prey population use this time in taking rest and restoring energy for other works. As the prey population is inactive and remained protected in safe places, they are less likely to be predated.

Hence, the correct answer is adaptive theory of sleeping.

Adaptive theory of sleeping states that the human or a prey remains unharmed if they are in a safe place otherwise they can be at a greater risk of being eaten by other organisms.

Further Explanation:

Sleep is thought to be the withdrawal of sensory awareness. The factors that interact to reveal the timing and the quality of sleep are: homeostatic (factor S) and circadian factor (factor C).

The characteristics of sleep are the functions of various brain activities and circuits. Various theories have been developed to explain patterns of sleep.

Adaptive theory is one of the oldest theory of sleep. This theory states that the inactivity at night has been adapted to keep organisms away from the harms at times when they may be vulnerable to certain problems. Therefore inactivity at night serves as a survival function for the organisms.

Example of organisms that supports the adaptive theory of sleep are humans and other animals. If they are out at night they are in a greater risk of being eaten by others however when they are in a safe place sleeping and conserving energy, they may remain unharmed.

The other theory of sleep are restorative theory and the developmental theory.

With the endosymbiotic hypothesis in mind, what structure within modern-day chloroplasts is likely derived from the cytoplasm of
Liono4ka [1.6K]

The chloroplasts had inner membrane

Explanation:

The primitive photoautotrophs utilized hydrogen sulphide as the electron donor to perform photosynthesis for energy production.

Later upon understanding the endosymbiotic relationship of cyanobacteria which resided in the mitochondria of a eukaryotic host cell, the use of chloroplasts for photosynthesis was understood.

Generations after generations led to the development of chloroplasts by the cyanobacteria due to this symbiotic relationships which developed into the chloroplasts.

The unique presence of the inner membrane and its components like the stroma, thyllakoids helped the organism to utilize water as the electron donor for photosynthesis like the present day eukaryotes. This is the main reason why cyanobacteria is considered as the ancestor for eukaryotes.

A botanist wants to see how different colored light waves influence the growth of pea plants. She puts the same number of seeds
SVETLANKA909090 [29]

Answer:

The amount of light they receive.

Explanation:

In an experiment, the independent variable is the part of the experiment that the experimenter changes. In this experiment, the only thing that's different for each of the plants is the amount of light they receive. Everything else is the same - the same amount of soil, same amount of water, same pots, and so on.

Which of the following statements best represents the relationships between the light reactions and the Calvin cycle? A) The lig
schepotkina [342]

Answer:

The correct answer is E the light reaction provide ATP and NADPH to the calvin cycle, and the cycle returns ADP,pi and NADP+ to the light reactions.

Explanation:

The light reaction of photosynthesis occur in the .During light reaction ATP is produced by cyclic photo phosphorylation and NADPH is generated by the reduction of NADP+ during Z scheme.

The ATP and reducing equivalent NADPH that is generated during light reaction is being utilized in the dark reaction.

During dark reaction both utilized ATP and NADPH are converted to ADP,pi and NADP+.These products are used during light reaction.

NADP+ is generated by the oxidation of NADPH and ADP and pi are produced by the hydrolysis of ATP.
