<u>Original</u>

Length (L): L

width (w): w

Perimeter (P) = 2L + 2w

               48 = 2(L) + 2(w)

              24 = L + w

         24 - L = w

*******************************************

<u>New</u>

Length (L): L + 24

width (w): 2w        ⇒2(24 - L)   = 48 - 2L

Perimeter (P) = 2L + 2w

               112 = 2(L + 24) + 2(48 - 2L)

                112 = 2L + 48 + 96 - 4L

                 112 = -2L + 140

                 -28 = -2L

                   14 = L

Answer: 14 m

Answer:

The answer is 16

Step-by-step explanation:

Firstly, we have to determine two equations that represent the perimeter before and after of changings.

Let

W=width of the rectangle

L=length of the rectangle

P=perimeter of the rectangle

<u>Before of changings</u>:

P=2*W+2*L\\P=48\\48=2*W+2*L

<u>After of changings</u>:

P=2*(2*W)+2*(L+24)\\\\P=4*W+2*L+48\\P=112\\112=4*W+2*L+48\\64=4*W+2*L

Finally, we resolve both equations:

(-1)*(48)=(-1)*(2*L+2*W)\\-48=-2*W-2*L\\\\64=4*W+2*L\\\\

Adding both equations:

-48+64=-2*W-2*L+4*W+2*L\\16=2*W\\W=16/2=8\\\\

Replacing W value in any equation:

64=4*8+2*L\\64=32+2*L\\2*L=64-32\\2*L=32\\L=32/2=16\\

Then, the length of the original rectangle (before changings) is 16

An anthropologist finds that a prehistoric bone contains less than 8.1% of the amount of Carbon-14 the bones would have containe
stealth61 [152]

Answer:

20,944 years

Step-by-step explanation:

The formula you use for this type of decay problem is the one that uses the decay constant as opposed to the half life in years.  We are given the k value of .00012.  If we don't know how much carbon was in the bones when the person was alive, it would be safer to say that when he was alive he had 100% of his carbon.  What's left then is 8.1%.  Because the 8.1% is left over from 100% after t years, we don't need to worry about converting that percent into a decimal.  We can use the 8.1.  Here's the formula:

N(t)=N_{0} e^{-kt}

where N(t) is the amount left over after the decay occurs, N_{0} is the initial amount, -k is the constant of decay (it's negative cuz decay is a taking away from as opposed to a giving to) and t is the time in years.  Filling in accordingly,

8.1=100e^{-.00012t}

Begin by dividing the 100 on both sides to get

.081=e^{-.00012t}

Now take the natural log of both sides.  Since the base of a natual log is e, natural logs and e "undo" each other, much like taking the square root of a squared number.

ln(.081)= -.00012t

Take the natual log of .081 on your calculator to get

-2.513306124 = -.00012t

Now divide both sides by -.00012 to get t = 20,944 years

Which system of equations below has no solution? A. y = 4x + 5 and y = 4x – 5 B. y = 4x + 5 and 2y = 8x + 10 C. y = 4x + 5 and y
Stels [109]

Answer: A  y=4x -5 and y=4x+5

Step-by-step explanation:

They have no solutions because they have the same slopes but different y intercepts. That works with any equation.

GalinKa [24]
The correct question is
<span>Javier is making a cake for a party. The recipe calls for 2 3/4 cups of flour, but he wants to triple the recipe. He guessed and put in 7 cups of flour. How many more cups of flour should he have used?

we know that
2 3/4 cups of flour------> (2*4+3)/4----> 11/4 cups
if he </span>wants to triple the recipe------> 3*(11/4)----> 33/4 ----> 8 1/4 cups required

8 1/4-7=1 1/4 cups

the answer is
1 1/4 cups
