Answer:

In light algae performs both photosynthesis and cellular respiration.

Algae performs only Calvin Cycle of photosynthesis when kept in dark.

Explanation:

Algae is a multi-cellular organism or unicellular organism which is capable of performing photosynthesis. It contains the pigment chlorophyll which is used to trap sunlight which converts carbon dioxide and water.

Cellular respiration also takes place in the algae and it is a continuous process that takes place all the time.

In case of dark or when there is no light only Calvin Cycle take place.

Answer:

 • Algae preform both photosynthesis and cellular respiration when incubated in the light.
 • Algae preform only Calvin cycle of photosynthesis and cellular respiration when incubated in the dark.

Explanation:

Algae do perform photosynthesis and cellular respiration during light just like other plant specie. They use chlorophyll a or b as pigments to collect light energy and drive the process of photosynthesis.

We know that photosysnthesis is basically a two step process i.e light reactions and dark reactions (dark reaction is also called Calvin cycle). So, in dark algae only performs Calvin cycle and shuts off the light harvesting steps of photosynthesis. However, cellular respiration keeps going throughout the life of algae without being affected. We can say that algae share these characteristics with the green plants.

Hope it helps! :)

Which of the following is directly involved in driving protein import into the mitochondrial matrix space? A. GTP hydrolysis out
kumpel [21]

Answer:

The correct answer is D; ATP hydrolysis inside mitochondria

Explanation:

Proteins imports brought into the matrix of mitochondria are normally taken up from the cytosol in practically less time after their discharge from ribosomes. Transportation of protein imports into the matrix is driven by energy which is supplied by:

 • ATP hydrolysis outside the mitochondra: this occurs in the first step of translocation process. ATP hydrolysis drives the release of newly synthesized polypeptides from the hsp70 group of chaperone proteins.
 • an electrochemical proton gradient across the inner mitochondrial membrane maintained by electron transport process in the inner membrane.
 • ATP hydrolysis in the matrix: Hsp70 chaperone proteins in the matrix space likewise have a job in the translocation procedure, and they are the third point in the import procedure at which ATP is expended.

Some migratory birds are heterothermic, meaning they sometimes maintain a constant body temperature and other times allow their
eduard

Answer:

B. Birds allow their temperature drop in order to increase their production efficiency.

Explanation:

Most birds can drop the temperature a few centigrade degrees, while there are torpid birds capable of lowering much more. Birds can drop body temperature in response to environmental conditions. Bird species including, among others, swifts, hummingbirds and chickadees are capable of regulating body temperature during torpor state. There are different morphological and behavioral adaptative traits that enable birds to minimize the cost of thermoregulation. In the first place, epidermis surface allows heat loss to the environment, while arteries and veins in the legs help to retain heat in cold conditions.

A population of birds lives on a small island. Another population of the same species lives on the mainland. The distance betwee
Anna007 [38]

Answer:

Explanation:

Based on this information it can be said that this formation between the islands and the mainlands will most likely cause an increase in gene flow between the bird populations. Since the islands and the mainland are now connected birds from both these two different habitats will begin mating and producing progeny, thus causing gene flow to increase between these species.
