Complex acid compounds have oxygen in them. For an acid with a polyatomic ion, the suffix “-ate” from the ion is replaced with “-ic.”Polyatomic ions with one extra oxygen (as compared to the typical polyatomic ion) have the prefix “per-” and the suffix “-ic.” :)

A gas cylinder filled with nitrogen at standard temperature and pressure has a mass of 37.289 g. The same container filled with
andrew-mc [135]

Answer:

Molar mass = 3.9236 g/mol ≅ 4 g/mol

This corresponds to Helium gas.

Explanation:

Let the moles of nitrogen gas = x moles

Moles of carbon dioxide = x moles ( As both are filled at same temperature and pressure conditions )

Given:

Mass_{Container}+Mass_{Nitrogen\ gas}=37.289\ g

Molar mass of nitrogen gas, N_2 = 28.014 g/mol

The formula for the calculation of moles is shown below:

moles = \frac{Mass\ taken}{Molar\ mass}

Thus,

x\ moles= \frac{Mass}{28.014\ g/mol}

Mass of nitrogen gas = 28.014x g

So,

Let, Mass_{Container}=y

y+28.014x=37.289

Similarly,

Mass_{Container}+Mass_{Carbon\ dioxide\ gas}=37.440\ g

Molar mass of nitrogen gas, CO_2 = 44.01 g/mol

The formula for the calculation of moles is shown below:

moles = \frac{Mass\ taken}{Molar\ mass}

Thus,

x\ moles= \frac{Mass{44.01\ g/mol}

Mass of nitrogen gas = 44.01x g

So,

y+44.01x=37.440

Solving the two equations, we get :

Mass_{Container}=y=37.025\ g

x = 0.00943 moles

Thus, Given:

Mass_{Container}+Mass_{Unknown\ gas}=37.062\ g

37.025\ g+Mass_{Unknown\ gas}=37.062\ g

Mass of the gas = 0.037 moles

Moles = 0.00943 moles

The formula for the calculation of moles is shown below:

moles = \frac{Mass\ taken}{Molar\ mass}

Thus,

0.00943\ moles= \frac{0.037\ g}Molar mass}

Molar mass = 3.9236 g/mol ≅ 4 g/mol

This corresponds to Helium gas.

What is the concentration of x2??? in a 0.150 m solution of the diprotic acid h2x? for h2x, ka1=4.5??10???6 and ka2=1.2??10???11
lutik1710 [3]
The first dissociation for H2X:
                        H2X +H2O ↔ HX + H3O
initial                0.15                     0      0
change             -X                     +X      +X
at equlibrium 0.15-X                  X        X
because Ka1 is small we can assume neglect x in H2X concentration
     Ka1      = [HX][H3O]/[H2X]
4.5x10^-6 =( X )(X) / (0.15)
X = √(4.5x10^-6*0.15)
∴X = 8.2 x 10-4 m
∴[HX] & [H3O] = 8.2x10^-4
the second dissociation of H2X
        HX + H2O↔ X^2 + H3O
    8.2x10^-4          Y         8.2x10^-4
Ka2 for Hx = 1.2x10^-11
Ka2       = [X2][H3O]/[HX]
1.2x10^-11= y (8.2x10^-4)*(8.2x10^-4)
∴y = 1.78x10^-5
∴[X^2] = 1.78x10^-5 m

A gas occupies 72.1 at stp. At what temperature would the gas occupy 85.9 L at a pressure of 93.6 kPa?
Alika [10]

Answer:

328.1 K.

Explanation:

  • To calculate the no. of moles of a gas, we can use the general law of ideal gas: <em>PV = nRT</em>.

where, P is the pressure of the gas in atm.

V is the volume of the gas in L.

n is the no. of moles of the gas in mol.

R is the general gas constant,

T is the temperature of the gas in.

  • If n is constant, and have two different values of (P, V and T):

<em>P₁V₁T₂ = P₂V₂T₁</em>

<em></em>

P₁ = 1.0 atm (standard P), V₁ = 72.1 L, T₁ = 25°C + 273 = 298 K (standard T).

P₂ = 93.6 kPa = 0.924 atm, V₂ = 85.9 L, T₂ = ??? K.

<em>T₂ = P₂V₂T₁/P₁V₁ = </em>(0.924 atm)(85.9 L)(298 K)/(1.0 atm)(72.1 L) <em>= 328.1 K.</em>

Complete this equation for the dissociation of the electrolyte NaCl(aq). Omit water from the equation because it is understood t
ella [17]

1. Answer;

Equation;

-NaCl(aq) → Na{+}(aq) + Cl{-}(aq)

Explanation;

-The polar property of water allows ionic compounds such as sodium chloride to dissolve in water. (sodium chloride is an ionic compound).

-Sodium chloride dissociates in water into sodium ions and chloride ions as shown by the equation. Water molecules surrounds the negatively charged chloride ions and positive sodium ions and pulls them away into solution.

2. Answer;

Equation;

Fe(ClO4)3(aq) → Fe 3+(aq) + 3ClO4 - (aq)

Explanation;

Iron (iii) perchlorate (Fe(ClO4)3 dissociates in water into iron (iii) ion and perchlorate ion. Iron (iii) ion is positively charged while the perchlorate ion is negatively charged, they are pulled apart by the polar water molecules, a process called dissociation.
