A researcher observes and records the height of a weight moving up and down on the end of a spring. At the beginning of the obse

rvation the weight was at its highest point. From its resting position, it takes 12 seconds for the weight to reach its highest position, fall to its lowest position, and return to its resting position. The difference between the lowest and the highest points is 10 in. Assume the resting position is at y = 0. Use the sine tool to graph the function. The first point must be on the midline and the second point must be a maximum or minimum value on the graph closest to the first point.

Answer:

The graph is attached below :

Step-by-step explanation :

For better understanding of the solution, see the graph which is attached below :

The first point will be at the max height not on the mid line.

Now, using the concept of sine tool, the function can be found to be :

y  =  A·sin(B·x - C) + D

where, Amplitude =  A = 10

Period  =  12 seconds

B=\frac{2\cdot \pi}{period}\\\\\implies B=\frac{2\cdot \pi}{12}\\\\\implies B=\frac{\pi}{6}

Since at x  = 0, the weight is at its highest point

Therefore, At x = 0 the sine graph is shifted back by \frac{\pi}{2} units. Thus,

C= -\frac{\pi}{2}

The mid line of the graph is  y  = 0

⇒ D = 0

Hence, The function  is  :

\bf y=10\cdot \sin((\frac{\pi}{6})\cdot x+\frac{\pi}{2})

Ariana and Emily are both standing in line at Papa Joe’s Pizza. Ariana orders 4 large cheese pizzas and 1 order of breadsticks.
Eva8 [605]

The cost of 1 large pizza is $7.99 and cost of one breadstick is $2.50

Elimination method was used.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let,

Cost of one large pizza = x

Cost of one breadstick = y

According to given statement;

4x+y=34.46    Eqn 1

2x+y=18.48     Eqn 2

Subtracting Eqn 2 from Eqn 1

(4x+y)-(2x+y)=34.46-18.48\\4x+y-2x-y=15.98\\2x=15.98

Dividing both sides by 2

\frac{2x}{2}=\frac{15.98}\\x=7.99

Putting x=7.99 in Eqn 2

4(7.99)+y=34.46\\31.96+y=34.46\\y=34.46-31.96\\y=2.50

The cost of 1 large pizza is $7.99 and cost of one breadstick is $2.50

Elimination method was used.

Trapezoidal is involving averageing the heights
the 4 intervals are
[0,4] and [4,7.2] and [7.2,8.6] and [8.6,9]

the area of each trapezoid is (v(t1)+v(t2))/2 times width

for the first interval
the average between 0 and 0.4 is 0.2
the width is 4
4(0.2)=0.8

2nd
average between 0.4 and 1 is 0.7
width is 3.2
3.2 times 0.7=2.24

3rd
average betwen 1.0 and 1.5 is 1.25
width is 1.4
1.4 times 1.25=1.75

4th
average betwen 1.5 and 2 is 1.75
width is 0.4
0.4 times 1.74=0.7

add them all up
0.8+2.24+1.75+0.7=5.49

5.49
t=time
v(t)=speed
so the area under the curve is distance
covered 5.49 meters

Matteo is adjusting a satellite because he finds it is not focusing the incoming radio waves perfectly. The shape of his satelli
natka813 [3]

Answer: (1.5, 0)

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : The shape of his satellite can be modeled by y^2=6x where x and y are modeled in inches.

Now,the given equation y^2=6x is a equation of parabola.

Here, coefficient of x is positive, hence the parabola opens rightwards.

On comparing this equation with standard equation x^2=4mx, we get

4m=6\\\Rightarrow\ m=\frac{6}{4}=1.5

In standard equation, coordinates of focus=(m,0)

Thus for given equation coordinates of focus=(1.5,0)
