Solution:(a) The value of samantha cards is -17. (b) The value of Warren cards is 2. (c) The winner name is Warren. (d) First way is king of Diamond , queen of club , 7 of spade and Second way is queen of heart, 8 of club, 9 of spade.

Explanation:

(a) It is given that red cards are negative and black cards are positive. Points of face card is 10.

Samanth has a king heart which is a red face card so the value of this card is negative 10. Jack of diamond is a red face card so the value of this card is negative 10. The value of 3 of spade is positive 3.

-10-10+3=-17

Therefore, the value of Samanth's cards is -17.

(b)Warren has 7 of club which is a black card so the value of this card is positive 7. The value of 2 of spade is positive 2 and the value of 7 of heart is negative -7.

7+2-7=2

Therefore, the value of Warren's cards is 2.

(c) The winner name is Warren.

From part (a) and (b) it is noticed that the value of Samanth's cards is -17 and the value of Warren's cards is 2.

Since 2>-17 therefore warren is the winner.

(d)The first way to score 7 is king of Diamond , queen of club , 7 of spade.

-10+10+7=7

The second way to score 7 is queen of heart, 8 of club, 9 of spade.

-10+8+9=7

Therefore, Two ways are king of Diamond , queen of club , 7 of spade and  queen of heart, 8 of club, 9 of spade.

Perry, maria, and lorna are painting rooms in a college dormitory. working alone, perry can paint a standard room in 3 hours, ma
Leviafan [203]

Answer:Perry and Lorna take the maximum time and Maria and Lorna take the minimum time when they work together.

Explanation: Since, according to the question- Perry takes time when he works alone = 3 hours

Similarly, Maria takes = 2 hours, While Lorna takes= 2 hours 30 minutes or 2.5 hours.

since, there are three people thus their are three possibility to choose any two of them.

1- when Perry and Maria work together then time taken by them is \frac{1}{1/2+1/3}=\frac{1}{5/6}= 6/5= 1 hour 12 minutes.

2- when Maria and Lorna work together then time taken by them is \frac{1}{1/2 + 1/2.5}= 10/9= 1 hours 1/9 minutes ≈ 1 hours 7 min

3- when Perry and Lorna work together then time taken= \frac{1}{1/3+1/2.5}= 15/11= 1 hour 4/11 minutes≈ 1 hours 21 minutes

From the above explanation, it has been proved that when we talk about 2 members team then Perry and Lorna take the maximum time. While Maria and Lorna take the minimum time when they work together.
