Answer: (2.20,\ 5.26)

Step-by-step explanation:

The confidence interval for the standard deviation is given by :-

\left ( \sqrt{\dfrac{(n-1)s^2}{\chi^2_{n-1,\alpha/2}}},\ \sqrt{\dfrac{(n-1)s^2}{\chi^2_{n-1,1-\alpha/2}}} \ \right )

Given : n= 12 ; s= 3.1

Significance level : \alpha=1-0.95=0.05

Using Chi-square distribution table ,

\chi^2_{11,0.025}}=21.92\\\\\chi^2_{11,0.975}}=3.82

Now, the 95% confidence interval for the standard deviation of the height of students at UH is given by :-

\left ( \sqrt{\dfrac{(11)(3.1)^2}{21.92}},\ \sqrt{\dfrac{(11)(3.1)^2}{3.82}} \ \right )\\\\=\left ( 2.19602743525, 5.26049188471\right )\approx(2.20,\ 5.26)

A car tire with a radius of 16inches is turning at a rate of 120 revolutions per minute. Find the exact linear speed of the tire
anygoal [31]

Answer:

The speed of the tyre of the car is 1002.24 feet per minute .

Step-by-step explanation:

Given as :

The radius of the car wheel = r = 16 inches

Since 12 inches = 1 feet

So,  16 inches = \frac{1}{12}×16 = 1.33 feet

The number of revolution of the wheel = 120 revolution per minute

Let The speed of the wheel = s feet per minute

The circumference of wheel = 2 × \pi × radius

where  \pi  = 3.14

or, circumference =  2 × 3.14 × 1.33

Or, Circumference = 8.352 feet

Now , Speed =  circumference of wheel × number of revolution

or, Speed = 8.352 feet × 120 revolution per minute

∴ Speed = 1002.24 feet per minute

Hence The speed of the tyre of the car is 1002.24 feet per minute . Answer

Mai spends 7 and 3/5 hours in school each day. Her lunch period is 30 minutes long, and she spends a total of 42 minutes switchi
Sonja [21]
First, we solve for the number of minutes in 7 and 3/5 hours by multiplying the number by 60 giving us,
                            (7 + 3/5) x (60) = 456 minutes
Spending 30 minutes for lunch will leave her with 426 minutes. Then, spending 42 minutes for switching of classes will finally give her 414 minutes.

We then divide this value by 6 (for her 6 classes) giving us 69 minutes. Thus, each class is 69 minutes long.
