Answer:

150 chicken eggs broke.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let chicken eggs be represented by = c

Let duck eggs be represented by = d

An egg seller ordered 600 duck eggs and chicken eggs altogether.

c+d=600

The number of duck eggs was 2/5 of the total number of eggs.

=> d=\frac{2}{5}\times600= 240 eggs.

So, c=600-240=360

Some chicken eggs broke during delivery and the number of duck eggs became 8/15 of the total number of eggs.

Let x eggs broke.

Remaining were 600-x

And d=\frac{8}{15}\times(600-x)

=> 240= \frac{8}{15}\times(600-x)

=> 8(600-x)=240\times15

=> 4800-8x=3600

=> 8x=1200

x = 150

Hence, 150 chicken eggs broke.

Answer:

150 eggs were broken

Step-by-step explanation:

Number of duck eggs = 2/5 * 600 = 240

Number of chicken eggs = 600 - 240 = 360

Total number of duck eggs after delivery = 240x 8/15 = 450

Remaining chicken eggs =450-240=210

So broken chicken eggs= 360-210=150

Study the steps used to solve the equation. Given: StartFraction c Over 2 EndFraction minus 5 equals 7 Step 1: StartFraction c O
Bas_tet [7]

Answer:

  1. addition property of equality
  2. integers are closed to addition
  3. identity element
  4. multiplication property of equality
  5. commutative property of multiplication; reals are closed to multiplication; identity element

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Given</u>:

  c/2 -5 = 7

  Step 1: c/2 -5 +5 = 7 +5

  Step 2: c/2 +0 = 12

  Step 3: c/2 = 12

  Step 4: 2(c/2) = 12(2)

  Step 5: c = 24

<u>Find</u>:

  The property that justifies each step of the solution.

<u>Solution</u>:

  Step 1: addition property of equality (lets you add the same to both sides)

  Step 2: integers are closed to addition

  Step 3: identity property of addition (adding 0 changes nothing)

  Step 4: multiplication property of equality

  Step 5: closure of real numbers to multiplication; identity property of multiplication

_____

It is hard to say what "property" you want to claim when you simplify an arithmetic expression. Above, we have used the property that the sets of integers and real numbers are closed to addition and multiplication. That is, adding or multiplying real numbers gives a real number.

In Step 5, we can rearrange 2(c/2) to c(2/2) using the commutative property of multiplication. 2/2=1, and c×1 = c. The latter is due to the identity element for multiplication: multiplying by 1 changes nothing.

Apart from the arithmetic, the other properties used are properties of equality.  Those let you perform any operation on an equation, as long as you do it to both sides of the equation. The operations we have performed in this fashion are adding 5 and multiplying by 2.

Circle O has a center at (-2, -2) and a diameter of 10 units. What point lies on circle O?
Sophie [7]

The point r(-6,-5)  lies on  the circle.

Explanation

Given that the center of the circle=(-2,-2)

diameter=10 units

we have to determine which point among the given points lies on the circle.

radius=diameter/2=10/2=5 units

let (x,y) be a point on the circle

The distance between the center and (x,y) is equal to the radius of the circle

The distance between them=\sqrt{(x-(-2))^2+y-(-2))^2}=5\\\\ \sqrt{(x+2)^2+(y+2)^2} =5\\\\

squaring both sides (x+2)^2+(y+2)^2=25\\

The option (-6,-5) satisfies the equation

therefore the point that lies on the circle is (-6,-5)

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

slope=change in y/change in x

one way is t pick 2 points, (x1,y1) and (x2,y2)

the slope is (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

pick some points

(8,4) and (8,0)

slope=(0-4)/(8-8)=-4/0=undefined

the slope is undefined
