That's very interesting. I'd love to hear more of the story. What happened next?

Mathematically, that would put periscope height at 50 feet below sea level. We could model it with the following expression:
-50 - 150 = -200

Basically the submarine starts 50 feet below the surface of the water, then goes down another 150 feet and the result is it is 200 feet below the surface at the end.

The exponential functions y=(1-25)^x-2/5. -10 is shown hraphed along woth the horizontal line y=115 their intersection is (a,115
evablogger [386]

Answer:26

Step-by-step explanation:

Y=1.25^x-2/5-10

Take log of both sides

So Y+10=1.25^x-2/5

So log to base 10 of the two sides of the equation is

Log(Y+10)=X-2/5log1.25.

To make X the subject, divide both sides by log1.25.

Log(Y+10)/log1.25=X-2/5.

Recall that Y was given to be 115

It becomes log(115 +10)/Log1.25=x-0.4

21.64=x-0.4

X=25.6

Sarah begins at a negative position along the x-axis. Sarah moves in the positive x-direction, turns around and then moves in th
a_sh-v [17]

Answer:

he magnitude of Sarah's displacement is less than the distance she travels

Step-by-step explanation:

Hi!

The magnitude of her displacement is just the difference between her final and initial state, however the distance she traveled is two times the distance she moved in the positive x-direction until she turned around, since she had to move back, plus her displacement.

So:

displacement = |x_{final} -x_{initial}| \\distanceTraveled = 2|x_{return}-x_{initial}| + displacement\\

Since all the terms are positive:

x_{displacement}

At the Foremost State Bank the average savings account balance in 2012 was $1900. A random sample of 45 savings account balanes
lakkis [162]

Answer:

The calculated  |t| = |-26.517|=26.517 > 2.326 at 0.01 level of significance

Null hypothesis is rejected at 0.01 level of significance

There is difference between mean savings account balance in 2013 is different from the mean savings account balance in 2012

Step-by-step explanation:

<u><em>Step(i)</em></u>:-

Mean of the Population = 1900

Given random sample size 'n' =  45

Mean of the sample x⁻ = 1000

Standard deviation of the sample = 225

<u><em>Null Hypothesis</em></u>:-

There is no difference between mean savings account balance in 2013 is different from the mean savings account balance in 2012.

<u><em>Alternative Hypothesis</em></u> :-

There is difference between mean savings account balance in 2013 is different from the mean savings account balance in 2012

<u><em>Step(ii</em></u>):-

Test statistic

        t = \frac{x^{-}-mean }{\frac{S.D}{\sqrt{n} } }

        t = \frac{1000-1900 }{\frac{225}{\sqrt{45} } }

       t = -900 /33.54 = -26.517

      |t| = |-26.517|=26.517

Degrees of freedom

                       γ = n-1 = 45-1 =44

t₍₀.₀₁ , ₄₄₎ = 2.326

The calculated  |t| = |-26.517|=26.517 > 2.326 at 0.01 level of significance

Null hypothesis is rejected at 0.01 level of significance

There is difference between mean savings account balance in 2013 is different from the mean savings account balance in 2012

Find the points on the cone z2 = x2 + y2 that are closest to the point (6, 2, 0).
aliya0001 [1]

Answer:

The closest points on the cone are;

(6, 2, -√10) and (6, 2, √10)

Step-by-step explanation:

Let B(x, y, z) denote a point on the cone.

Therefore, the distance between the points (6, 2, 0) and B(x, y, z) is;

d = √[(x - 6)² + (y - 2)² + (z - 0)²]

d = √[(x - 6)² + (y - 2)² + z²]

Since we are given that z² = x² + y², we now have;

d = √[(x - 6)² + (y - 2)² + x² + y²]

Taking the square of both sides gives;

d² = [(x - 6)² + (y - 2)² + x² + y²]

x² is an increasing function. Thus, minimizing d is also the same as to minimize f (x, y) = d²

Thus, f' = 0. So;

df/dx = 2(x - 6) + 2x = 0

2x - 12 + 2x = 0

4x = 12

x = 12/4

x = 3

Similarly,

df/dy = 2(y - 2) + 2y = 0

2y - 4 + 2y = 0

4y - 4 = 0

4y = 4

y = 4/4

y = 1

Now,from earlier;

z² = x² + y²

Thus;

z = ±√(3² + 1²)

z = ±√10

Thus, the closest points on the cone are;

(6, 2, -√10) and (6, 2, √10)
