Using appropriate formulas, the dimensions of a rectangle (length and width) can be used to calculate the area of the rectangle and its perimeter. Using the given information, those formulas give two equations in the two unknowns of length and width. Using any of a variety of methods, the solution that satisfies both equations can be found. That solution will provide numerical values for the length and width of the area for the dog.

_____

A = 1600 = L·W

P = 160 = 2(L + W)

Solving the second for L and substituting into the first, we get

L = 80 - W

1600 = (80 -W)·W

W² -80W +1600 = 0 . . . . . subtract the right side, put in standard form

(W -40)² = 0 . . . . . . . . . . . . factor the equation

W = 40 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . this has one solution, of multiplicity 2

L = 80 - 40 = 40 . . . . . . . . use the previously developed equation to find L

The dog pen will be a 40-foot square.

___

The graph shows another way to solve these equations. The solution is the point(s) where the curves intersect. There is only one point: L = W = 40.

First of all, since A = l x w for rectangles, and A = 1600 ft ^ 2, you could do the square root of 1600 and get 40.

This means that 40 x 40 = 1600.

So the length = 40 and the width = 40.

Also, since Tina can get 160 feet of fence, which is the perimeter, you could do 40 + 40 + 40 + 40 = 160, which confirms that the length = 40 and the width = 40.

mr. rite wants his roof to be 90degrees at its peak and have a slope of -7/2 on the sunny side of the house. if the height of hi
ruslelena [56]

Answer:

60 feet

Step-by-step explanation:

The slope of the roof is the vertical distance over the horizontal distance. This means for very 7 feet vertical the roof spreads out 2 feet horizontal. So if the roof is 210 feet vertical, then the horizontal will be _____.

This is found by setting up a proportionand solving for the unknown distance.

\frac{7}{2}=\frac{210}{y}

7y = 2*210

7y = 420

y = 60

The horizontal distance will be 60 feet.

You have just opened a new dance club, Swing Haven, but are unsure of how high to set the cover charge (entrance fee). One week
aliya0001 [1]

Answer:

q = -6p + 104

Step-by-step explanation:

Linear function:

A linear function has the following format:

q = mp + b

In which m is the slope and b is the q-intercept.

One week you charged $4 per guest and averaged 80 guests per night. The next week you charged $10 per guest and averaged 44 guests per night.

This means that we have these following points: (4,80), (10,44).

Finding the slope:

With a pair of points, the slope is given by the change in q divided by the change in p.

Change in q: 44 - 80 = -36

Change in p: 10 - 4 = 6

Slope: m = \frac{-36}{6} = -6

So

q = -6p + b

Finding b:

We replace one of the points. Replacing (4,80).

q = -6p + b

80 = -6*4 + b

b = 104

So

q = -6p + 104

Five hundred sixth-grade students
viktelen [127]
<h3>The ratio in three ways are 500 : 125 or 100 : 25 or 4 : 1</h3>

<em><u>Solution:</u></em>

Given that,

Five hundred sixth-grade students  were surveyed

Which means,

sixth-grade students = 500

125 had traveled on an airplane

<em><u>What is the ratio of total sixth-grade students to the number of students who had  traveled on an airplane?</u></em>

Therefore,

total sixth-grade students : students  traveled on airplane = 500 : 125

<h3>Ratio = 500 : 125</h3>

Reduce to lowest terms,

Divide both sides by 5

<h3>Ratio = 100 : 25</h3>

Further reduce to simplest terms,

Divide both sides by 25

<h3>Ratio = 4 : 1</h3>

Thus the ratio in three ways are 500 : 125 or 100 : 25 or 4 : 1

Which function has the domain x&gt;or= -11
iogann1982 [59]
I'm assuming this is multiple choice and you forgot to post the answers. I'll take a guess and say it probably looks something like this:
y = \sqrt{x + 11}
Because you can't take the square root of a negative number without getting an imaginary result, resulting in the function having a closed domain limit.
