The Northern economy was determined solely by manufacturing. They produced tobacco, hemp, wheat, and vegetables. The Southern economy, on the other hand, was determined by cotton and sugar which was produced by slaves because of the intense labor. As a result, the North did not rely as much on slavery.

African Americans in the North were active participants in American society. They could own land, businesses, farms, and could even pay taxes, and also fought relentlessly against slavery both politically and strategically. For example, they helped blacks escape by acting as active “conductors” on the underground railroads (secret routes created for slaves to escape into free states and Canada.)

African Americans in the South still lived under the shadow of slavery. They could not travel or assemble like Northerners, nor could they own businesses or churches. Although they wanted to take a stand against slavery, they did not have the same opprotunities as Northern African Americans.

What geographical change over time do the sites of the major monuments show
Alecsey [184]

The correct answer is - erosion.

The sites of the major monuments over time show signs of erosion. As all these sites are made out of natural materials they are not prone to the effects of the erosion. Little by little, over time, they have small parts of them removed with this natural process, thus changing their initial forma and shape, but also threatening to totally destroy them. The erosion has increased in the past century because of the acid rains as they have very high corrosive power.

Because of this, lot of sites of major monuments have been restored, new layers are added, for both making them look as they initially did, and for bigger protection of the natural elements.

"Self-competition" refers to ________, whereas performance in socially evaluative situations refers to ______.
kiruha [24]

Answer:

The correct answer is c. achievement motivation; competition

Explanation:

In psychology, motivation is a certain process where we feel a need to accomplish certain tasks or perform certain actions in order to reach a goal that we find desirable.

One of the things that can motivate us is competition, which refers to a certain situation where we are contesting against other people or against ourselves. When competition is against ourselves, we refer to that as self-competition. Self-competition is a sort of internal incentive, where we challenge ourselves to do better than in the past. This is a form of achievement motivation, where the end goal is not an external reward or evaluation, but the feeling that we have accomplished something. On the other hand, when the competition is against others, that means the incentive to perform is external, and we compete in these socially evaluative situations in order to achieve a reward.
