Answer :

(a) The nitrogen atom of NH_2^- would have 8 electrons around the central nitrogen atom.

(b) The nitrogen atom of NH_4^+ would have 8 electrons around the central nitrogen atom.

(c) The nitrogen atom of NH_3 would have 8 electrons around the central nitrogen atom.

Explanation :

Lewis-dot structure : It shows the bonding between the atoms of a molecule and it also shows the unpaired electrons present in the molecule.

In the Lewis-dot structure the valance electrons are shown by 'dot'.

Now we have to determine the number of electrons present around the central nitrogen atom of the following molecule.

(a) The given molecule is, NH_2^-

As we know that nitrogen has '5' valence electrons and hydrogen has '1' valence electron.

Therefore, the total number of valence electrons in NH_2^- = 5 + 2(1) + 1 = 8

According to Lewis-dot structure, there are 4 number of bonding electrons and 4 number of non-bonding electrons.

From the Lewis-dot structure we conclude that the nitrogen atom of NH_2^- would have 8 electrons around the central nitrogen atom.

(b) The given molecule is, NH_4^+

As we know that nitrogen has '5' valence electrons and hydrogen has '1' valence electron.

Therefore, the total number of valence electrons in NH_4^+ = 5 + 4(1) - 1 = 8

According to Lewis-dot structure, there are 8 number of bonding electrons and 0 number of non-bonding electrons.

From the Lewis-dot structure we conclude that the nitrogen atom of NH_4^+ would have 8 electrons around the central nitrogen atom.

(c) The given molecule is, NH_3

As we know that nitrogen has '5' valence electrons and hydrogen has '1' valence electron.

Therefore, the total number of valence electrons in NH_2^- = 5 + 3(1) = 8

According to Lewis-dot structure, there are 6 number of bonding electrons and 2 number of non-bonding electrons.

From the Lewis-dot structure we conclude that the nitrogen atom of NH_3 would have 8 electrons around the central nitrogen atom.

Firlakuza [10]
The final temperature of the water is the equilibrium temperature, or the also the final temperature of the iron after a long period of time. Applying the conservation of energy:

m,iron*C,iron*ΔT = - m,water*C,water*ΔT

The density of water is 1000 g/mL.

(25 g)(0.449 J/g·°C)(T - 398 K) = - (25 mL)(1000 g/mL)(4.18 J/g·°C)(T - 298)
Solving for T,
T = 298.01 K

The target diol is synthesized in one step from 1-methylcyclopentene, but your lab partner exhausted the supply of that alkene.
andrezito [222]

Answer:

The reagents are CH_{3}CH_{3}O^{-},OsO_{4},NaHSO_{3}and H_{2}O.

Explanation:

1-Methylenecyclopentene is treated with HBr form 1-bromo-1-methylcyclopentane, which is treated with strong base ethoxide ion and forms 1-methylcyclopent-1-ene.

This alkene is treated with osmium tetraoxide in the presence of sodium bisulfite to form target product.

The chemical reaction is as follows.

During photosynthesis, sunlight shining on a plant is absorbed. Through several chemical reactions, the plant produces sugar, a
weeeeeb [17]
The change is thermal energy to chemical energy. Sugar contains a lot of chemical potential energy which is why living things use it as a source of energy. The process of photo synthesis takes light from the sun to convert carbon dioxide and water into sugar and oxygen. That process is basically turning the thermal energy from the light into chemical energy in the sugar.

I hope this helps. Let me know if anything is unclear.

What is the symbol for the isotope of 58 co that possesses 33 neutrons?
Leona [35]
Element with an atomic number of 58 is actually Cerium, so the symbol should be Ce, not Co because that is Cobalt which has an atomic number of 27. With that being said, the notation for isotopes is the symbol of the element with a superscript and a subscript that are aligned. The superscript represents the mass number.

Mass number = protons + neutrons = 58 + 33 = 91

The subscript is the atomic number which is 58. The notation is written in the picture attached.
