Answer: 5\frac{5}{12}\ feet

Step-by-step explanation:

Given: The height of the wall beneath the window = 2\frac{2}{3}=\frac{8}{3}\ feet

The height of the window =2\frac{3}{4}=\frac{11}{4}\ feet

Now, the total height from the floor to the top of the window=\frac{8}{3}+\frac{11}{4}=\frac{32+33}{12}=\frac{65}{12}=5\frac{5}{12}\ feet

Hence, the length of the drapes have to be 5\frac{5}{12}\ feet.

2 2/3 + 2 3/4 is equal to 5 5/12 so the drapes will be 5 5/12 feet long (or 5 feet 5 inches)

What is the percent of increase in the rent for Bob's apartment if it went from $560 to $616?
son4ous [18]

This is a two step problem. First, you need to find the difference (or increase) in the rent using subtraction.

616-560 = $56 increase

Now we need to figure what percent 56 is to the original amount (560)

We voice it like this:

56 is to 560 as x is to 100.

The equation looks like this:

56/560 - x/100

Cross multiply to cancel out the denominators.

56 x 100 = 560 x

5600 = 560 x

x = 10 percent.

Check it!

What is 10 percent of 560?

560 x .1 = $56

Was that your increase? ... yes.

Serhud [2]
Give the equation 9m = 10n

Dividing both sides by 9n, we have
\frac{9m}{9n} = \frac{10n}{9n}  \\  \\  \frac{m}{n} = \frac{10}{9}

Therefore, the <span>proportion that results in the equation 9m = 10n is
