The vertical angle to the top of a flagpole from point A on the ground is observed to be 37°11'. The observer walks 17 m directl

y away from point A and the flagpole to point B and finds the new angle to be 25°43'. What is the approximate height of the flagpole?

Answer:

22m

Step-by-step explanation:

Let height of flagpole=h

AB==17 m

\angle CAD=37^{\circ}11'=37+\frac{11}{60}=37.183^{\circ}(1 degree= 60 minute)

\angle B=25^{\circ}43'=25+\frac{43}{60}=25.72^{\circ}

We have to find the approximate height of the flagpole.

In triangle CDA,

\frac{CD}{DA}=tan\theta=\frac{Perpendicular\;side}{Base}

\frac{h}{DA}=tan37.183^{\circ}

h=DA(0.759)

In triangle CDB,

tan 25.72^{\circ}=\frac{CD}{DB}

0.482=\frac{h}{DA+17}

0.482DA+8.194=h

Substitute the value

0.482DA+8.194=0.759DA

8.194=0.759DA-0.482DA

8.194=0.277DA

DA=\frac{8.194}{0.277}=29.58

Substitute the value

h=29.58 \times 0.759=22.45 m\approx 22m

Hence, the height of the flagpole=22 m

What is the sum of the infinite geometric series?<br><br> mc010-1.jpg
ra1l [238]
You haven't provided the series, therefore, I can only help with the concept.

<u><em>For an infinite geometric series, we have two possibilities for the common ratio (r):</em></u>
for r > 1, the terms in the series will keep increasing infinitely and the only possible logic summation of the series would be infinity
for r < 1, the terms will decrease, therefore, we can formulate a rule to get the sum of the infinite series

<u><em>In an infinite series with r < 1, the summation can be found using the following rule:</em></u>
sum = \frac{a_{1} }{1-r}
where:
a₁ is the first term in the series
r is the common ratio

<u>Example:</u>
For the series:
2 , 1, 0.5 , 0.25 , ....
we have:
a₁ = 2
r = 0.5
Therefre:
sum = \frac{2}{1-0.5} = 4

Hope this helps :)

Grant plans to evaporate enough water from 22 gallons of a 16% ammonia solution to make a 24% ammonia solution. Which equation c
Paha777 [63]
First lets write down our starting conditions:

we have 22 gallons and it has 16% of ammonia

16% of 22 gallons is
A = 16/100*22 = 3,52 gallons

Now since only watter is evaporating that means that in second scenario after some watter evaporated there is still 3,52 gallons of ammonia. But now those 3,52 gallons of ammonia represent 24% of total mixture. So now we go other way.
24 % is 3,52 gallons
100% is x gallons

x = 100/24*3,52 = 14.667 gallons

That means that he has to evaporate
22 - 14.6667 = 7,333 gallons of water.

If the x- and y-values in each pair of a set of ordered pairs are interchanged, the resulting set of ordered pairs is known as t
dem82 [27]

Answer:

Inverse of a function

Step-by-step explanation:

If the x- and y-values in each pair of a set of ordered pairs are interchanged, the resulting set of ordered pairs is known as the inverse of a function.

For example, given the following function:

y = 2x

If x=0 → y= 0

If x=1 → y= 2

If x=2 → y= 4

Now, if we find the inverse of the function:

y = 2x → x = 2y → y = x/2

Now:

If x=0 → y= 0

If x=2 → y= 1

If x=4 → y= 2

Comparing both cases, you will notice that the ordered pairs are effectively interchanged.
