Consider the equation y = mt + b, where the dimensions of y is length and the dimensions of t is time, and m and b are constants

. When answering question parts in this problem, use the symbols L and T to represent dimensions of length and time, respectively, and use the symbols m and s to represent the SI units of meters and seconds, respectively.

Answer: SI unit of 'b' is meter (m) while 'm' is m/s.

dimension of 'm' is [LT^{-1}] and 'b' is [L]

Explanation:

consider the equation

y = mt + b      ................ (1)

where y represent the length with a dimension of [L]

also t represent the time with a dimension of [T]

so from (1) we can say that the dimension of mt must equal the dimension of y.

thus

[mt] = [L]

which is [m] = [LT^{-1}]

  • so the dimension of m becomes [LT^{-1}]

  • from the unit of y which is meter  and time t in second

      the unit of m = meter/ second = m/s

so the S I unit of 'm' is m/s

  • Also from (1) we can say that the dimension of 'b' is equal to the dimension of y.

so [b] = [L]

so, dimension of b is [L]

  • SI unit of b is meter (m)

<span>14 m/s Assuming that all of the energy stored in the spring is transferred to dart, we have 2 equations to take into consideration. 1. How much energy is stored in the spring? 2. How fast will the dart travel with that amount of energy. As for the energy stored, that's a simple matter of multiplication. So: 20 N * 0.05 m = 1 Nm = 1 J For the second part, the energy of a moving object is expressed as KE = 0.5 mv^2 where KE = Kinetic energy m = mass v = velocity Since we now know the energy (in Joules) and mass of the dart, we can substitute the known values and solve for v. So KE = 0.5 mv^2 1 J = 0.5 0.010 kg * v^2 1 kg*m^2/s^2 = 0.005 kg * v^2 200 m^2/s^2 = v^2 14.14213562 m/s = v So the dart will have a velocity of 14 m/s after rounding to 2 significant figures.</span>

A 1.0 kg brick falls off a ledge of height 44m and lands on the ground at 3.0 s later.
Agata [3.3K]
vf^2 = 2ad
vf^2 = 2(9.81)(44m)
vf^2 = 863.28
vf = √863.28
vf = 29.4  - using equations of motion

ME = PE + KE
ME = mgh + 1/2mv^2
ME = (1)(9.81)(44) + 1/2(1)(3^2)
ME = 431.64 + 4.5
ME = 436.14 - using conservation of energy

hope this helps :)

1) A fan is to accelerate quiescent air to a velocity of 8 m/s at a rate of 9 m3/s. Determine the minimum power that must be sup
azamat

Answer:

\dot{W} = 339.84 W

Explanation:

given data:

flow Q = 9 m^{3}/s

velocity = 8 m/s

density of air = 1.18 kg/m^{3}

minimum power required to supplied to the fan is equal to the POWER POTENTIAL of the kinetic energy and it is given as

\dot{W} =\dot{m}\frac{V^{2}}{2}

here \dot{m}is mass flow rate and given as

\dot{m} = \rho*Q

\dot{W} =\rho*Q\frac{V^{2}}{2}

Putting all value to get minimum power

\dot{W} =1.18*9*\frac{8^{2}}{2}

\dot{W} = 339.84 W

A simple generator has a square armature 6.0 cm on a side. The armature has 85 turns of 0.59-mm-diameter copper wire and rotates
FrozenT [24]

Answer:

f=15.5 Hz

Explanation:

Let's determine the internal resistance:

R=\frac{(p*L)}{A}

ρ = 1.68*10^-8 Ω m

L=0.060m*4*60 = 14.4m

A=\pi*r^2\\A= \pi*(5.9x10^-4m/2)^2=2.734*10^-7m^2

R=(1.68*10^-8)*(14.4m)/(2.734*10^-7m^2)= 0.884Ω

Since the bulb is rated at 12.0 V and 25.0 W,

Current

I=\frac{25W}{12.0v}=2.08 A

Therefore, voltage drop inside generator =

V=(2.08 A)*(0.88)=2.35v

Actual EMF required is

E_{mf}=12.0v+2.35v=14.35v

Note that this is an RMS value.

The peak voltage is

v_{peak}=14.15v*\sqrt{2} =20.29v

For a generator, by Faraday's Law,

E_{(max)}=N*B*A*w

20.29v=(60)*(0.650T)*(0.06m)^2*ω

ω=144.5\frac{rad}{s}

f=ω/(2π)=

f=144.5 rad/s/(2π)

f=23.001 Hz
