A simple generator has a square armature 6.0 cm on a side. The armature has 85 turns of 0.59-mm-diameter copper wire and rotates

in a 0.65-T magnetic field. The generator is used to power a lightbulb rated at 12.0 V and 25.0 W. At what rate should the generator rotate to provide 12.0 V (rms) to the bulb? Consider the resistance of the wire on the armature.

Answer:

f=15.5 Hz

Explanation:

Let's determine the internal resistance:

R=\frac{(p*L)}{A}

ρ = 1.68*10^-8 Ω m

L=0.060m*4*60 = 14.4m

A=\pi*r^2\\A= \pi*(5.9x10^-4m/2)^2=2.734*10^-7m^2

R=(1.68*10^-8)*(14.4m)/(2.734*10^-7m^2)= 0.884Ω

Since the bulb is rated at 12.0 V and 25.0 W,

Current

I=\frac{25W}{12.0v}=2.08 A

Therefore, voltage drop inside generator =

V=(2.08 A)*(0.88)=2.35v

Actual EMF required is

E_{mf}=12.0v+2.35v=14.35v

Note that this is an RMS value.

The peak voltage is

v_{peak}=14.15v*\sqrt{2} =20.29v

For a generator, by Faraday's Law,

E_{(max)}=N*B*A*w

20.29v=(60)*(0.650T)*(0.06m)^2*ω

ω=144.5\frac{rad}{s}

f=ω/(2π)=

f=144.5 rad/s/(2π)

f=23.001 Hz

Oksana_A [137]
<h2>The K.E of the charge is 1.02 x 10⁻¹⁷ J</h2>

Explanation:

When the charge of 2e is placed in between the plates .

The force applied on this charge by plates is = q E

here q is the magnitude of charge = 2 e = 2 x 1.6 x 10⁻¹⁹ C

and E is the magnitude of electric field intensity

The work done = Force x displacement

Thus W = q E x S

here S is displacement

Therefore W = 2 x 1.6 x 10⁻¹⁹ x 4 x 8

= 1.02 x 10⁻¹⁷ J

This work will be converted into the kinetic energy of charge .

Thus K.E = 1.02 x 10⁻¹⁷ J

Answer:

R=19.5m

\theta = 4.65° S of W

Explanation:

Refer the attached fig.

displacement  of the x and y components

x-component displacement is (R_{x}) = A_{x}+B_{x}

= A \sin(20°) + B \cos(40°)

= -12.0\sin(20°) + 20.0\cos(40°)

= -19.425m

x-component displacement is (R_{y}) = A_{y}+ B_{y}

=  A \cos(20°) - B \sin(40°)

= 12.0\cos(20°) - 20.0\sin(40°)

= -1.579

resultant displacement

∴

R = \sqrt{R_{x}^{2} +R_{y}^{2} }  }

=\sqrt{(-19.425)^{2}+(-1.579)^{2}  }

=19.5m

\theta = \tan^{-1}\left | \frac{R_{x}}{R_{y}} \right |

\theta = \tan^{-1}\left | \frac{1.579}{19.425} \right |

\theta = 4.65° S of W

Sedaia [141]

Answer:

Volume of gasoline that expands and spills out is 1.33 ltr

Explanation:

As we know that when temperature of the liquid is increased then its volume will expand and it is given as

\Delta V = V_o\gamma \Delta T

here we know that

V_o = 40 Ltr

volume expansion coefficient of the gasoline is given as

\gamma = 950 × 10^{–6}

change in temperature is given as

\Delta T = (131 - 68) \times \frac{5}{9}

\Delta T = 35 ^oC

Now we have

\Delta V = 40(950 \times 10^{-6})(35)

\Delta V = 1.33 Ltr
