A pottery wheel, initially at rest, is assumed to be a uniform disk of mass 3.0 kg and radius 20.0 cm. A 25.0 N force is applied

tangentially to the rim.
(a) What is the angular acceleration of this pottery wheel?
(b) If the force is applied for 30.0 sec, find the instantaneous angular velocity at 30.0 sec.
(c) What will be the angular displacement for this wheel from t= 15 s until t= 30s?

Answer:

a) 83.33 rad/s^2

b) 2500 rad/s

c) 6187.5 rad

Explanation:

Given data:

radius of wheel = 20.0 cm

mass of wheel = 3.0 kg

force = 25 N

a) angular acceleration

we know torque is given as

T = I \times \alpha

F\times R = I \times \alpha

F\times R = \frac{1}{2} mR^2 \times \alpha

solving for angular acceleration \alpha

\alpha = \frac{2F}{mR} = \frac{2*25}{3*0.2} = 83.33 rad/s^2

b)  angular velocity

duartion of force applied = 30.0 sec

\omega_{30} = \omega_0 +alpha t

                      = o + 83.33 *30 = 2500 rad/sec

c) angular displacement

\theta_{15} = = \omega_0 +\frac{1}{2} alpha t_{15}^2 = 0 + \frac{1}{2} 83.33 \times 15^2

\theta_{30} = \omega_0 +\frac{1}{2} alpha t_{30}^2 = 0 + \frac{1}{2} 83.33 \times 30^2

\Delta \theta = \theta_{30} - \theta_{15}

\Delta \theta = 6187.5 rad

A mine car, whose mass is 440kg, rolls at a speed of 0.50m/s on ahorizontal track, as the drawing shows. A 150kg chunk of coalha
ella [17]

Answer: 0.56 m/s

Explanation:

hello, there is 25° inclination angle for the chute in the drawing. Thankfully, I know this problem. The conservation of momentum.

so there are X and Y components for the momentum in this problem. The Y component is not conserved as when the coal gets in the cart, the normal force exerted by the surface reduces it to 0.

Now, the X component is definitely conserved here.

so you have the momentum of the cart which is 440*0.5 added to the momentum of the chunk which is 150*0.8*cos(25°), that is the momentum before the coupling between the objects. Afterwards both objects will have the same velocity, so we write the equation like this:

440*0.5 + 150*0.8*cos(25) = 440*v_{final} + 150*v_{final} \\ => 220+120*cos(25) = (440+150)v_{final} => v_{final} = \frac{220+120*cos(25)}{590}  = 0.56 m/s

The average mass of an automobile in the United States is about 1.440x10^6 g express this mass in kilograms
-BARSIC- [3]
From the problem statement, this is a conversion problem. We are asked to convert from units of grams to units of kilograms. To do this, we need a conversion factor which would relate the different units involved. We either multiply or divide this certain value to the original measurement depending on what is asked. From literature, we will find that 1000 grams is equal to 1 kilogram. We use this as follows:

<span> 1.440x10^6 g ( 1 kg / 1000 g ) = 1440 kg</span><span>

A runner runs 4875 ft in 6.85 minutes. what is the runners average speed in miles per hour?
yanalaym [24]

The average speed can be easily calculated by taking the ratio of distance and time. That is:

average speed = distance / time

so calculating:

average speed = 4875 ft / 6.85 minutes

<span>average speed = 711.68 ft / min</span>
