The table compares some characteristics of two atoms.

Chemistry

Answer:

               Atom X and Atom Y occupy the same position in the periodic table because they are isotopes

Explanation:

            The table is as follow;

Atom/Charged particle                  # of neutrons                Mass #

                X                                              6                                12

               Y                                             7                                13

As we know the Mass number is the total number of protons and neutrons in the nucleus of an atom so,

Mass #  =  # of Protons + # of Neutrons

Solving above equation for protons,

# of Protons  =  Mass # - No. of Neutrons

For Atom X:

# of Protons  =  12 - 6

# of Protons  =  6

For Atom Y:

# of Protons  =  13 - 7

# of Protons  =  6

Hence, it can be concluded that the number of protons for both atoms are the same. Also, we also know that atoms having same no. of protons (atomic number) are the same elements.

Conclusion:

                  Atom X and Atom Y are two isotopes of Carbon with atomic number 12. One isotope has a mass number of 13 and have a chemical symbol of ¹³₆C while the other has mass number of 12 and with chemical symbol of ¹²₆C.

The molecules that make up soap have a region that contains polar covalent bonds and a region that contains nonpolar covalent bo
mojhsa [17]

Explanation:

The cleansing action of soaps is predicated on the nature of soaps as we have it.

  • A soap has the ability to remove dirt from materials.
  • The cleansing action of a soap is related to the structure of its molecule.
  • A molecule of soap has dual structure with polar head that is water loving and a long hydrocarbon tail which is hydrophobic.
  • The structure enables soap molecules to emulsify an organic dirt present on a fabric in water.
  • The soap causes the suspension of tiny oil droplets in the aqueous medium.

How much heat is required to increase the temperature of 100.0 grams of iron from 15.0oC to 40.2oC? (The specific heat of iron i
Ksenya-84 [330]
Answer is: 1160 J of heat Is required to increase the temperature.
m(Fe) = 100 g.
∆T = 40,2 - 15 = 25,2°C.
C(Fe) = 0,46 J/g•°C.
Q = m(Fe) • C • ∆T.
Q = 100 g • 0,46 J/g•°C • 25,2°C
Q = 1160 J.
C - specific heat.

Consider the two facts below:
OLEGan [10]

Answer:

A. There is more dissolved oxygen in colder waters than in warm water.

D. If ocean temperature rise, then the risk to the fish population increases.

Explanation:

Conclusion that can be drawn from the two facts stated above:

*Dissolved oxygen is essential nutrient for fish survival in their aquatic habitat.

*Dissolved oxygen would decrease as the temperature of aquatic habit rises, and vice versa.

*Fishes, therefore, would thrive best in colder waters than warmer waters.

The following are scenarios that can be explained by the facts given and conclusions arrived:

A. There is more dissolved oxygen in colder waters than in warm water (solubility of gases decreases with increase in temperature)

D. If ocean temperature rise, then the risk to the fish population increases (fishes will thrive best in colder waters where dissolved oxygen is readily available).
