Answer:

4 m/s

Explanation:

From the law of conservation of momentum,

Total momentum before collision = Total momentum after collision.

But,

Total momentum before collision = 0 m/s ( Both are at the center of the ice rink before the push).

0 = mv+m'v'

Where m = mass of Jack, m' = mass of Jill, v = final speed of Jack, v' = final speed of Jill

-mv = m'v'.................. Equation 1

make v the subject of the equation

v = m'v'/-m................... Equation 2

Given:  m = 50 kg, m' = 40 kg, v' = 5 m/s.

Substitute into equation 2

v = -40(5)/50

v = -200/50

v = -4 m/s

Note: The negative sign shows that Jack moves to the left with a speed of 4 m/s

Hence Jack's speed = 4 m/s

A runner runs 300 m at an average speed of 3.0 m/s. She then runs another 300m at an average
Kaylis [27]

Answer:

B. 4 m/s

Explanation:

v=d/t

Running for 300 m at 3 m/s takes 100 seconds and running at 300 m at 6 m/s takes 50 seconds. 100 s + 50 s = 150 s (total time). Total distance is 600 m, so 600 m/ 150 s = 4 m/s.

Answer;

= 22°

Explanation;

  • According to Snell's law, the ratio of the sine of the angle of incidence to the sine of the angle of refraction is a constant. The constant value is called the refractive index of the second medium with respect to the first.
  • Therefore; Sin i/Sin r = η

In this case; Angle of incidence = 90° -60° =30°, angle of refraction =? and η = 1.33

Thus;

Sin 30 / Sin r = 1.33

Sin r = Sin 30°/1.33

       = 0.3759

r = Sin^-1 0.3759

   = 22.08

   ≈ 22°

Lapatulllka [165]

Answer:

0.2cm towards the retina.

Explanation:

the focal length of the frog eye is

(1/f) = (1/10) + (1/0.8)

f = 0.74cm

Since the distance of the object is 15cm Hence

(1/0.74) = (1/15) + (1/V)

V = 0.78cm

Therefore the distance the retina is to move is

0.78cm - 0.8cm = 0.02cm towards the retina.
