Answer:

The bone is compressed to 4.213*10⁻⁶ m.

Explanation:

Given that ,

Mass of the person M = 85 kg,

Length of femur L =0.65 m

Radius of femur r = 0.02 m

To find,

Compression of the bone l = ?

The Young's Modulus is given by Y= \frac{FL}{lA}

Young's modulus of human femur bone is Y = 9.4 *10⁹ Pa

Rearranging formula ,

l =\frac{FL}{YA}

Weight supported by femur bone is 85 *0.9 =76.5 Kg

Area = π r² =3.14* (0.02)² = 0.001256 m

The length of compressed bone is

l =\frac{76.5*0.65}{9.4GPa*0.001256} =  \frac{49.725}{0.0118GPa} =4213.89 *10⁻⁹

l = 4.213*10⁻⁶ m

The bone is compressed to 4.213*10⁻⁶ m.

marissa [1.9K]

Answer:

Please find the answer in the explanation

Explanation:

Given that A 1.0 g plastic bead, with a charge of -6.0 nC, is suspended between the two plates by the force of the electric field between them.

Since it is suspended, it must have been repelled by the bottom negative plate and trying to be attracted to the top plate.

We can therefore conclude that the upper plate, is positively charged

B.) The charge on the positive plate of parallel-plate capacitor is constructed of two horizontal 12.0-cm-diameter circular plates must be less than 6.0 nC

There are many ways to lose weight, but a sustainable plan generally involves behavior modification related to diet and exercise
Anna007 [38]

The answer is adequate nutrition, regular physical activity, and practical ways to reduce calories while retaining important nutrients.

Explanation:

Despite that adequate nutrition, regular physical activity, and practical ways to reduce calories while retaining important nutrients is one of the best strategy to reducing weight, most time it is very difficult for those that want to reduce or control their weight to discipline themselves enough to follow these routine. But one an individual that want to loose weight or live a healthy lifestyle is able to follow these procedures he/she will surely loose weight.

A vehicle has an initial velocity of v0 when a tree falls on the roadway a distance xf in front of the vehicle. The driver has a
Korvikt [17]

Answer:

v^2=v_o^2-2\times a\times (v_o.t)

Explanation:

Given:

Initial velocity of the vehicle, v_o

distance between the car and the tree, x_f

time taken to respond to the situation, t

acceleration of the car after braking, a

Using equation of motion:

v^2=u^2+2a.s ..............(1)

where:

v= final velocity of the car when it hits the tree

u= initial velocity of the  car when the tree falls

a= acceleration after the brakes are applied

s= distance between the tree and the car after the brakes are applied.

s=v_o\times t

Now for this situation the eq. (1) becomes:

v^2=v_o^2-2\times a\times (v_o.t) (negative sign is for the deceleration after the brake is applied to the car.)
