Wilson is 6 years older than Mary. Wilson's age is 10 years less than five times Mary's age. The equations below model the relat

ionship between Wilson's age (w) and Mary's age (m):
w = m + 6
w = 5m − 10

Which is a possible correct method to find Wilson's and Mary's ages?

Wilson is 6 older than mary
w=6+m

wilson is 10 less than 5 times mary
w=-10+5m
w=5m-10

so now we set them eqal to each other since both equal w

m+6=w=5m-10
m+6=5m-10
minus m both sides
6=4m-10
add 10 to both sides
16=4m
divide both sides by 4
4=m
sub back
w=m+6
w=4+6
w=10

wilson=10
mary=4

the correct method is math

You can use substitution to find the solution.
Lets start by solving for m in the first equation.
w - 6 = m + 6 - 6 this leaves it as an equation of m
Now we can put this in place of m in the second equation.
w = 5(w - 6) - 10
w = 5w - 30 - 10
w = 5w - 40
w - 5w = -40
-4w = -40
-4w/-4 = -40/-4
w = 10
So now you put 10 in place of w.
10 - 6 = m + 6 - 6
4 = m
Mary is 4 and Wilson is 10
Put these in place of m and w in the other equation as well to double check.
10 + 10 = 5(4) - 10 + 10
20 = 20
So this is correct

De acuerdo con los registros de una empresa, se requieren 54 toneladas de naranjas para producir 45 toneladas de concentrado en
worty [1.4K]

Answer:

79.2 tons

Step-by-step explanation:

What must be done is to apply a proportion rule, taking into account what happened in the registry and what is wanted for this new year. In the following way we can calculate the amount of tons of oranges.

Powder concentrate                    Oranges

         45 tons -------------------------> 54 Tons

         66 tons -------------------------> X Tons

X = 66 * 54/45

X = 79.2, that is to say that 79.2 tons are necessary to produce 66 tons of powder concentrate to make juice.

Find all the zeros of the equation 12x^2-64=-x^4
Natalija [7]

Answer: all the zeroes of the above equation will be

(x-4)(x+4)(x-2)(x+2)

Step-by-step explanation:

Since we  have given that

12x^2-64=-x^4\\\\x^4+12x^2-64=0

We need to find the zeroes of the above equation.

So, we will use  "Split the middle terms" :

x^4+12x^2-64=0\\\\x^4+16x^2-4x^2-64=0\\\\x^2(x^2-16)-4(x^2-16)=0\\\\(x^2-4)(x^2-16)=0\\\\x^2-4=0\ or\ x^2-16=0\\\\\text{ "Using }a^2-b^2=(a+b)(a-b)"\\\\x^2-4=x^2-2^2=(x-2)(x+2)\\\\x^2-16=x^2-4^2=(x+4)(x-4)

So, all the zeroes of the above equation will be

(x-4)(x+4)(x-2)(x+2)

What is the range of the function graphed below?
Xelga [282]
<h2>Answer:</h2>

Option: B is the correct answer.

The range of the function is:

        B.      5 < y < ∞

<h2>Step-by-step explanation:</h2>

Range of a function--

The range of a function is the set of all the values that is attained by the function.

By looking at the graph of the function we see that the function tends to 5 when x→ -∞ and the function tends to infinity when x →∞

Also, the function is a strictly increasing function.

This means that the function takes every real value between 5 and ∞ .

i.e. The range of the function is: (5,∞)

          Hence, the answer is:

                Option: B

Andre ran 2 kilometers in 15 minutes, and Jada ran 3 kilometers in 20 minutes. Both ran at a constant speed. Did they run at the
Goshia [24]

Answer:

speed of Jada = 6km per hour which is not equal to

speed of Andre = 8km per hour

They did not run at same speed

Step-by-step explanation:

formula of speed = distance covered/ time taken

For Andre

Distance = 2 KM

time = 15 mins

60 mins = 1 hour

15 mins = 1/60 * 15 hour = 0.25 hours

thus,

speed = 2km/0.25 hour = 8 km per hour

Similarly for Jada

Distance = 3 KM

time = 20 mins

60 mins = 1 hour

20 mins = 1/60 * 20 hour = 1/3 hours

thus,

speed = 2km/(1/3)hour = 6  km per hour

Now we have

speed of Jada = 6km per hour which is not equal to

speed of Andre = 8km per hour
