In a reliability test there is a 42% probability that a computer chip survives more than 500 temperature cycles. If a computer c

hip does not survive more than 500 temperature cycles, then there is a 73% probability that it was manufactured by company A. Let A be the event that the chip was "made by company A", and B be the event that a chip "survives 500 temperature cycles". That is A made by company A = " ", and B survives 500 temperature cycles = " ". What is the Probability that a computer chip is not manufactured by company A and does not survive more than 500 temperature cycles?

Answer:

The probability is P(B' n A ' ) =  16%

Step-by-step explanation:

From the  question we are told that

     A  is the event that  the chip was "made by company A"

      B is  the event that a chip "survives 500 temperature cycles"

    The probability that a computer chip survives more than 500 temperature cycles is

     P(B) = 42% = 0.42

 The  probability that does not survive more than 500 temperature cycles and  it was manufactured by company A is  P(A | B' ) = 0.73

The probability that the  computer chip is not manufactured by company A and does not survive more than 500 temperature cycles is mathematically evaluated as

      P(B' n A ' ) =  P (B' | A' ) P(B ')

Where B' \ and \   A' are a A and B complements and  | represented AND operator

  So

        P(B' n A ' ) = [1 -  P (B' | A )] [1 - P(B )]

substituting values

         P(B' n A ' ) = [1 -  0.73] [1 - 0.42 ]

        P(B' n A ' ) = (0.27 )(0.58)

        P(B' n A ' ) =0.16

        P(B' n A ' ) =  16%

A quality control engineer tests the quality of produced computers. suppose that 5% of computers have defects, and defects occur
11111nata11111 [884]
(a) 0.059582148 probability of exactly 3 defective out of 20

 (b) 0.98598125 probability that at least 5 need to be tested to find 2 defective.

  (a) For exactly 3 defective computers, we need to find the calculate the probability of 3 defective computers with 17 good computers, and then multiply by the number of ways we could arrange those computers. So

 0.05^3 * (1 - 0.05)^(20-3) * 20! / (3!(20-3)!)

 = 0.05^3 * 0.95^17 * 20! / (3!17!)

 = 0.05^3 * 0.95^17 * 20*19*18*17! / (3!17!)

 = 0.05^3 * 0.95^17 * 20*19*18 / (1*2*3)

 = 0.05^3 * 0.95^17 * 20*19*(2*3*3) / (2*3)

 = 0.05^3 * 0.95^17 * 20*19*3

 = 0.000125* 0.418120335 * 1140

 = 0.059582148

  (b) For this problem, let's recast the problem into "What's the probability of having only 0 or 1 defective computers out of 4?" After all, if at most 1 defective computers have been found, then a fifth computer would need to be tested in order to attempt to find another defective computer. So the probability of getting 0 defective computers out of 4 is (1-0.05)^4 = 0.95^4 = 0.81450625.

 The probability of getting exactly 1 defective computer out of 4 is 0.05*(1-0.05)^3*4!/(1!(4-1)!)

 = 0.05*0.95^3*24/(1!3!)

 = 0.05*0.857375*24/6

 = 0.171475

 So the probability of getting only 0 or 1 defective computers out of the 1st 4 is 0.81450625 + 0.171475 = 0.98598125 which is also the probability that at least 5 computers need to be tested.

Find the measure of each acute angle.
crimeas [40]

The 3 inside angles of a triangle need to equal 180 degrees.

This is a right triangle so the bottom left corner is 90 degrees.

This means the other two angles when added need to equal 180-90 = 90 degrees.

Now you have 8x + 7x = 90

Combine like terms:

15x = 90

Divide both sides by 15

X = 6

Now you have the value for x solve the two angles:

8x = 8(6) = 48

7x = 7(6) = 42

Top left = 48 degrees

Bottom right = 42 degrees

If Ethan takes out a $5,000 loan to buy a motorcycle and his payments are $168.45 a month for 36 months, how much money will he
Vilka [71]

Answer:

  $1064.20

Step-by-step explanation:

36 payments of $168.45 have a total of $6064.20. The excess over the loan amount of $5000 is the interest paid:

  $6064.20 -5000 = $1064.20 . . . . interest paid
