The answer is below

Step-by-step explanation:

The question is not complete, the complete question is:

A skydiver is 760 meters above the ground when he opens  his parachute. After opening the parachute, he descends  at a constant speed of 17 meters per second.

a) A function gives a relationship between two variables (an independent and dependent variable). The dependent variable is dependent on other variables  (output) while the independent variable is not dependent on other variables (input).

Let x be the number of seconds after the parachute is opened and y be the height of the parachute above the ground. Hence the equation that models the situation is:

y = 760 - 17x

At a height of 400 m, the number of seconds is:

y = 760 - 17x

400 = 760 - 17x

17x = 760 - 400

17x = 360

x = 21.2

x ≅ 21 seconds

It takes 21 seconds to reach a height of 400 m

b) Domain is the set of all independent variables. In this case the independent variable is the time (x)

The minimum time is at y = 760

y= 760 - 17x

760 = 760 - 17x

17x = 0

x = 0

The maximum time is at y = 0

y= 760 - 17x

0 = 760 - 17x

17x = 760

x = 44.7

Hence the domain = 0 ≤ x ≤ 44.7

Abit is planning a birthday party for his granddad. He bought a cake for $18\$18$18dollar sign, 18. He also wants to buy some ba
Arturiano [62]

Answer:

$1.00

Step-by-step explanation:

Total Budget = $35

Cake Spent = $18

Remaining Money = 35 - 18 = $17

Since, each balloon is worth $4, to find how many balloons he will get with remaining money ($17), we divide the the remaining money by price of each balloon:

17/4 = 4.25

We can't have fractional balloons, so Abit can get 4 balloons, MAXIMUM.

4 balloons cost = $4 per balloon * 4 = $16

So, from $17 if he spends $16 for balloons, he will have left:

$17 - $16 = $1.00

A maple syrup company is making a new label for its barrels of syrup. If the barrels are 5 feet tall and have a radius of 2 feet
Elanso [62]

Answer:

(A)62.8 square feet

Step-by-step explanation:

Height of the barrels = 5 feet

Radius of the barrels= 2 feet

\pi=3.14

The barrel is in the shape of a cylinder and the area of the label the company needs is that of the round sides(curved surface area) of the cylinder.

Curved Surface Area of a Cylinder=2\pi rh

=2X3.14X2X5

=62.8 square feet

The company need 62.8 square feet of label.

An aquarium 2 m long, 1 m wide, and 1 m deep is full of water. Find the work needed to pump half of the water out of the aquariu
loris [4]

Answer:

Workdone = 2450Joules

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the top of the aquarium be at height 0.

Let the bottom of the aquarium be at height 1

F = mg = 2p◇x × g

F= 2000◇x × 9.8

F = 19600◇x

Workdone = 19600xdx

Total workdone = Integral (limits 0.5 -0)19600×dx

Total work = [9800x^2]^0.5

Total work= 9800× 0.5^2 = 2450 Joules
