Total Volume would be 6 + 4 = 10 pints
Let's calculate the volume of alcohol in final solution:
20% * 6 = 1.2 pints
10% * 4 = .4 pints
Total = 1.6 pints of alcohol in 10
Percentage = (1.6/10) * 100 = 16 per cent.
answer is A

The percentage alcohol in the new solution is : <u>16%(A)</u>

<h3>Further explanation</h3>

The concentration of a substance can be expressed in several quantities such as moles, percent (%) weight / volume,), molarity, molality, parts per million (ppm) or mole fraction. Concentration shows the amount of solute in a unit of the amount of solvent.

Molarity (M)

Molarity shows the number of moles of solute in every 1 liter of solution.

\large {\boxed {\bold {M ~ = ~ \frac {n} {V}}}

Where

M = Molarity

n = Number of moles of solute

V = volume of the solution

MIXING SOLUTIONS

Molarity of the mixture of 2 solutions:

Vm Mm = V1. M1 + V2. M2

so that:

\displaystyle Mm =\frac{V1.M1+V2.M2}{Vm}

where :

Mm = Mixed molarity (M)

Vm = V1 + V2 = mixed volume (ml)

6 pints of a 20 percent solution of alcohol in water are mixed with 4 pints of a 10 percent alcohol in water solution.

V1=6 pints = 2.83906 liters, and concentration M1 =20% = 0.2

V2=4 pints = 1.89271 liters, M2=10% = 0.1

Vm = 2.83906 + 1.89271 = 4.73177 Liters

\displaystyle Mm=\frac{V1.M1+V2.M2}{Vc}\\\\Mm=\frac{2.83906.0.2+1.89271.0.1}{4.73177}\\\\Mm=0.16=16\%

A sunflower grows 8 feet in 92 days. Assuming that it grows at a constant
Yuki888 [10]

Answer:

69 days

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that sunflower grows at constant rate.

Let the rate of growth be x feet per day. It means sum flower grows x feet every day.

in 1 day plant grows x feet,

so in 92 days plant will grow 92*x feet

In 92 days the growth of plant will be = rate of growth *92 = 92*x = 92x feet

But given that A sunflower grows 8 feet in 92 days

so, 92x will be same as 8 feet.

lets put it in equation

92x =8 feet

x = 8/92 = 2/23

Thus, rate of growth of sunflower plant is 2/23 feet per days.

it means it grows 2/23 feet every day.

Let number of days taken to grow 6 feet be y days

in 1 day plant grows 2/23 feet feet,

so in y days plant will grow 2/23*y feet

In y days the growth of plant will be = rate of growth *y= (2/23)*y = 2y/23 feet

But 2y/23 should be equal to 6 feet

2y/23 = 6

Multiplying  both side by 23

2y/23 * = 6 *23

=> 2y =138

dividing both side by 2

2y/2 =138/2

=> y = 69

Thus, it will take 69 days for sunflower to grow 6 feet.

Andrea has a yard shaped like parallelogram ABCD. The garden area, parallelogram EFGB, has an area of 105 ft2004-05-02-04-00_fil
Lynna [10]

The area of a parallelogram is simply calculated using the formula:

A = b * h

Where,

b = length of the base = 45 ft

h = height which is perpendicular to the base = 21 ft

Using the formula, we calculate the total area of the yard.

A = b* h

A = 45 ft * 21 ft

A = 945 ft^2

Now we don’t want to sod the Garden area for the most obvious reason. The garden has an Area of 105 ft^2, we subtract this to the total area giving us,

Area to sod = 945 ft^2 – 105ft^2

<span>Area to sod = 840 ft^2</span>
