Black mice and tan mice are native species that are observed in a particular region. Human habitation in the region caused an in

vasive mouse species to enter the region. These mice are brown and share the same food requirements as black mice. Tan mice have different food requirements. How will this change affect the food web in the region? A. The availability of food resources for black mice and brown mice will decrease. B. The population of tan mice will decrease. C. The black mice and tan mice will compete for food resources. D. The tan mice and brown mice will compete for food resources.

Answer:

A

Explanation:

The correct answer would be that the availability of food resources for black mice and brown mice will decrease.

Since the food requirements of the black mice are the same as that of the invasive brown mice, the available food supply that used to be only for the black mice would now be shared by the two strains of mice. Hence, the available food for the two groups of mice will naturally decrease.

There is no sufficient information to conclude that the population of tan mice will decrease, hence, option B is incorrect.

The black mice and tan mice have different food requirements going by the information available in the illustration, hence, both cannot compete for food resources. Option C is, therefore, incorrect. In the same vein, option D is incorrect because the tan mice have different food requirements from the brown mice.

The only correct option is A.

A major change in evolutionary patterns over long periods of time is best described as:
Amanda [17]

Answer:

A major change over long periods of time is best described as macroevolution.

Explanation:

Macroevolution would be referring to evolution on a larger scale where populations speciate etc. A, B and C are various forms of speciation and microevolution would be referring to smaller changes in evolutionary patterns e.g. in adaptive or physical traits which may not be deemed 'significant' enough to be considered a speciation event.

Why do some cells divide faster than others and some cells do not divide after they are formed? Into which group does cancer fit
Nuetrik [128]

Skin cells, divide in a continuous manner that makes new skin cells to replace the skin cells we lost. Cells regulate their division by cyclins. Some cells divide faster when it supposed to stop dividing and this will lead to cancer disease.

Explanation:

The process of cell division occurs for many reasons. A single cell is divided into two which in turn they will be divided into four and so on. This corresponds to the process of cell division and cell reproduction. Cell division is an unique characteristics in human beings. Interactions between signaling proteins produces checkpoints in the cell cycle to ensure that cells do not divide at improper times.

A protein named Cyclins plays a major role in the determination and the regulation of the cell division process. The division that occurs in the cell can be regulated by the this protein type. They acts as a switch for controlling the cell division process. They will signal the cells when to divide and when to stop. When any cell continues to divided even after it is signaled to stop they may lead to a disease called cancer. These are different form the normal cells because they will be having their own growth factors that controls their growth and they will lose the normal controls on the cell cycle.
