Answer:

Option 1,2 and 5 are true.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : The polynomial  4x^3- 6x^2 + 8x- 12

To find : Which statements are true about the polynomial? Check all that apply.

Solution :

First we find the factor of the given polynomial.

4x^3- 6x^2 + 8x- 12=2(x^2+2)(2x-3)

Now, We check one by one.

1) The terms 4x^3 \text{ and } 8x have a common factor.

Yes, it is true they have common factor i.e, 4x.

2) The terms  4x^3 \text{ and } -6x^2 have a common factor.

Yes, it is true they have common factor i.e, 2x^2.

3) The polynomial is prime.

No, It is not prime, and the factored polynomial is 4(2x-3)

4) The factored polynomial is (2x^2-3)(2x + 4).

No, It is not correct. As factored of polynomial is 2(x^2+2)(2x-3)

5) The polynomial can be grouped in different ways to factor by grouping.

Yes, it is true.

Therefore, Option 1,2 and 5 are true.

The yard behind the Cindy's house is rectangular in shape and has a perimeter of 72 feet. If the length l of the yard is 18 feet
QveST [7]
Let the width of the yard  be w.
Since the length is 18feet longer, l = w + 18

Perimeter for rectangle =  2(l + w)

        2(l + w) = 72

        2(w+18 + w) = 72      Divide 2 on both sides

           (w + 18 + w) = 36

               2w + 18 =   36

                       2w = 36 - 18

                            2w = 18       Divide 2 on both sides

                                w = 18/2

                                   w = 9

Recall, length l = w + 18, l = 9 + 18 = 27

Hence width, w = 9, length,l = 27

Area of rectangle = l × w = 27 × 9 =   243

Area of rectangular yard =  243 square feet.

yKpoI14uk [10]
Your question asks for an expression, so you would expect an answer in the form of an equation containing variables. This is because you have only 2 independent equations with 3 unknowns. That makes the system unsolvable.

Suppose v₁ is the mountaineer's velocity during the 1,000-foot trail. Then, v₂ is his speed for the 5,000-foot trail. The equation relating these two variables is:

v₂ = 2v₁ - 10 ---> equation 1

Then, you find the equation for the total number of hours he climbed. That would be the distance divided by their respective speed.

t = 1000/v₁ + 5000/v₂ ----> equation 2

Substituting equation 1 to equation 2,

t = 1000/v₁ + 5000/(2v₁ - 10)
t = 1000/v₁ + 5000/2(v₁-5)
t = 1,000/v₁ + 2,500/(v₁-5)

Julie has three children whose ages are consecutive odd integers. If x represents the youngest childs age, which expression repr
Mazyrski [523]
X = first child
x +2 = 2nd child
x+ 4 = 3rd child

It doesn't matter if the ages are odd or even - there is two years between each child in age.

The sum would be
x + x + 2 + x + 4 or  3x + 6.
Lets try it with a sample age.  Let's say the youngest is 5 middle is 7 and oldest is 9
The sum of their ages is 21 (5 + 7 + 9)

Using our answer of 3x + 6 where x is the age of the youngest child, we get
3(5) +6 which is also 21.

This could also be solved by having x represent the middle age child
x-2 is the youngest (2 years less than the middle)
x = the middle
x+2 is the oldest (2 years older than the middle)

The sum of these would be x-2 + x + x +2  or simply 3x (the 2's cancel out)
Since the middle child is 7   3x would mean 3 (7)=21

You could also set this up using x for the oldest child
x= oldest
x-2= middle
x-4= youngest   (The sum of this is 3x - 6)

3 (9) -6 is also 21.
