The answer is 20.5 feet, because when you draw out the triangle and label the angles and given sides and then use the law of sines, you end up with it.

Answer:

Find out the length of the pole.

To prove

As given

After a windstorm, a leaning pole makes a 75° angle with the road surface. The pole casts a 15-foot shadow when the sun is at a 45° angle of elevation.

As shown in the diagram given below.

In the ΔABC

Using the angle sum property of a triangle .

∠A + ∠B + ∠C = 180°

y + 75 + 45 = 180

y = 180 - 120

y = 60°

Let us assume that the length of the pole be x.

Now using the sine rule

\frac{sin \angle B}{x} = \frac{sin \angle A}{BC}

BC = 15 foot

\frac{sin45^{\circ}}{x}= \frac{sin60^{\circ}}{15}

sin45° =  0.71 (Approx)

sin60° = 0.87 (Approx)

Put in the above

\frac{0.71}{x}= \frac{0.87}{15}

x= \frac{0.71\times 15}{0.87}

x= \frac{10.65}{0.87}

x = 12.2 foot

Therefore the length of the pole is 12.2 foot.

An ice cream stand uses the expression 2 + 0.5x2+0.5x2, plus, 0, point, 5, x to determine the cost (in dollars) of an ice cream
Rashid [163]

Answer:

An ice cream cone with 5 scoops cost is, $4.5

Step-by-step explanation:

As per the statement:

An ice cream stand uses the expression 2+0.5x to determine the cost of an ice cream cone that has x scoops of ice cream.

⇒ Cost of an ice cream cone C(x) = 2+0.5x         .....[1]

Given: x = 5 scoops

We have to find the cost of an ice cream cone with 5 scoops cost.

Substitute the given value of x =5 in [1] we have;

C(5) = 2+0.5(5)

C(5) = 2+0.5 \times 5 = 2 + 2.5 = $4.5

Therefore, an ice cream cone with 5 scoops cost is, $4.5

Tim and Jim are working on a school project together. If he had to work by himself, it would take
Vladimir [108]

Answer: 6 hours

Step-by-step explanation:

Given, Tim and Jim are working on a school project together.

Tim takes 10 hours to complete the school project.

If Jim worked alone, it would take him 15 hours

Let t be the time they both take if they work together.

Then, \dfrac{1}{t}=\dfrac{1}{\text{Time taken by Tim}}+\dfrac{1}{\text{Time taken by jim}}

\Rightarrow\ \dfrac{1}{t}=\dfrac{1}{10}+\dfrac{1}{15}\\\\\Rightarrow\ \dfrac{1}{t}=\dfrac{3+2}{30}=\dfrac{5}{30}\\\\\Rightarrow\dfrac{1}{t}=\dfrac{1}{6}\\\\\Rightarrow t=6

So, it will take<u> 6 hours</u> to complete the school project together .
