<span>Warren drove from Townsville  </span>à<span> Villaville at 70 miles per hour
and from Villaville to Townsville </span>è<span>  50 miles per hours
He drove for a total of 12 hours.
=> 70 miles + 50 miles = 120 miles
=> 12 hours
So the unit rate of his driving is 120 miles / 12 hours
=> 120 miles  / 12 hours
=> 10 miles / hour
thus, he drove in total for 10 miles per hour.
And probably the 2 towns are about 60 miles away.</span>

Call the distance between the towns 'D' .

The time it takes to cover a distance is (distance) divided by (speed).

It takes Mr. Warren  D/70  hours on the first trip,
and it takes him  D/50  hours on the return.
All together, it takes him 12 hours.

                                                    D/70 + D/50         =  12 hours

Change the fractions to
a common denominator
(350) for adding:                  5D / 350 + 7D / 350  =  12

Add:                                              12D / 350           =  12

Divide each side by  12 :               D / 350             =  1

Multiply each side by  350 :              D                    =  350 miles .

Check:

Going:        350mi / 70 mph = 5 hours

Coming:     350mi / 50 mph = 7 hours

Total                                          12 hours            yay !

VikaD [51]

Answer:

Their headquarters contains <u>420000</u> employees.

Step-by-step explanation:

The company has two office buildings which hold 30,000 employees.

The headquarters contains 14 times as many employees as the overseas branch.

Therefore, the number of employees in the headquarters is:

14 * 30000 = 420000 employees

Their headquarters contains 420000 employees.

Terry made a plastic birdhouse with the dimensions shown below. How many square inches
xxMikexx [17]

Answer:

376 squared inches for the hole bird house, 60 for the side with the whole.

Step-by-step explanation:

1 side is 60 inches squared, another is 48 inches squared, and another is 80 inches squared, and there are two of each side so you get 120+96+160= 376.

Triangle J K L is shown. Angle J K L is a right angle. An altitude is drawn from point K to point M on side L J to form a right
KiRa [710]

Answer:

3\sqrt{5}\ units

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Theorem 1:</u> The height of right triangle drawn from the right angle to the hypotenuse divides the hypotenuse into two segments. The length of the altitude is the geometric mean of these two segments. Hence,

KM^2=ML\cdot MJ\\ \\6^2=ML\cdot 3\\ \\3ML=36\\ \\ML=12\ units

<u>Theorem 2:</u> In a right triangle, the altitude drawn from the right angle to the hypotenuse divides the hypotenuse into two segments. The length of each leg of the right triangle is the geometric mean of the lengths of the hypotenuse and the segment of the hypotenuse that is adjacent to the leg.

Thus,

KJ^2=MJ\cdot ML\\ \\KJ^2=3\cdot (3+12)\\ \\KJ^2=3\cdot 15\\ \\KJ^2=45\\ \\KJ=\sqrt{45}=3\sqrt{5}\ units
