Hey there!

Before you start solving anything, you need to identify which situation you want to call event A and which you want to call event B. I usually just do it in the order of the events as they're given to me in the question, so:

A = S<span>tudent participates in student council
B = S</span><span>tudent participates in after school sports

Any problems that contain the word "given" in the question portion will want you to refer to </span>P(A | B)<span> = P(</span>A ∩ B)/P(B). P(A | B) literally means "probability of event A, given that event B has occurred." P(A ∩ B) is the probability of event A and B happening, and P(B) is just the probability of event B happening. We've been given all of that, so:

P(A | B) = P(A ∩ B)/P(B)
P(A | B) = 11% / 62%
P(A | B) = 0.11 / 0.62
P(A | B) = 0.18

There will be about an 18% chance that <span>a student participates in student council, given that the student participates in after school sports.

Hope this helped you out! :-)</span>

Answer with Step-by-step explanation:

At Monroe High School, 62% of all students participate in after school sports and 11% participate in both after school sports and student council.

A: students participate in after school sports

P(A)=0.62

B:students participate in student council

A∩B:students participate in  both after school sports and student council.

P(A∩B)=0.11

B/A: student participates in student council given that the student participates in after school sports

baye's theorem says that

P(A∩B)=P(B/A)×P(A)

0.11=P(B/A)×0.62

⇒ P(B/A)=0.18

Hence, probability that  student participates in student council given that the student participates in after school sports is:

  0.18

Amount invested in a saving account

5000-3000=2000

The stock increases 9% in the first year

3,000×(1+0.09)=3,270

and loses 4% of its value the second year

3,270×(1−0.04)=3,139.2

Amount of a saving account after two years

2,000×(1+0.049)^(2)=2,200.8

Grades 3, 4, and 5 have their annual field day together. Each grade level is given 16 gallons of water.
sineoko [7]

Answer:

Their will be enough water for each student to consume 2 cups of water.

Step-by-step explanation:

Grade 3, 4 and 5 have their annual field day together . Each grade level is given 16 gallons of water. This means the three grades have 16 × 3 = 48 gallons of water.

The total students involved is 350 student. The total student is the sum of the student in all three grades.

Since the water will be distributed to the students in cups let us convert gallons to cups.

1 gallons = 16 cups

48 gallons = ? cups

cross multiply

48 × 16 = 768 cups.

768 cups of water is available to be shared among the 350 students.

1 student is entitled to 2 cups of water.

350 students will consume 350 × 2 = 700 cups of water.

Therefore, their will be enough water for each student to consume 2 cups of water.

For what value of the variable will<br> b<br> the value of 3−5c be 1 less than the value of 1−c?
Crank

Answer:

c = 3/4

Step-by-step explanation:

Lets set up an equation.

You can get

3-5c + 1 = 1-c to show that it is one less.

now we can solve it.

So by combining like terms, we get:

4-5c = 1-c

that then becomes:

3-5c = -c

--> 3 = 4c

--> c = 3/4
