Ans: D) 6

A reaction is said to be balanced when the number of atoms (of one type) is the same in both the reactants and the product side of the equation.

The given reaction is:

BF3 + Li2SO3 → B2(SO3)3 + LiF

Reactants                          Products

B = 1                                   B = 2

F = 3                                  F = 1

Li = 2                                  Li = 1

S = 1                                   S = 3

O = 3                                 O = 9

From the above atoms tally, it is clear that the B, F, Li, S and O atoms are unbalanced.

In order to balance it, multiply BF3 by 2, Li2SO3 by 3 and LiF by 6. The balanced equation is:

2BF3 + 3Li2SO3 → B2(SO3)3 +6 LiF

Therefore, coefficient of LiF is 6

Which of the following does not participate in, nor is a component of, the electron transport chain? (Remember that molecules ca
Yanka [14]

Answer:

A) coenzyme A

Explanation:

The NADH and FADH₂ are the energy rich molecules which are formed in the processes like glycolysis, TCA cycle and the fatty acid oxidation as they contain pair of electrons which have very high transfer potential.

As a result of the energy produced when these molecules transfer their electrons to the oxygen , ATP is generated by a series of electron carriers which collectively is called electron transport chain (ETC).

The components of chain include Fe–S centers, Non-heme, FMN, coenzyme Q, and cytochromes .

The energy derived from the transfer of electrons is used to pump the protons across mitochondrial membrane.

As a result, an electrochemical gradient is generated which results in some energy which is then harnessed by the ATP synthase to form ATP.

Write equations that show the processes that describe the first, second, and third ionization energies for a gaseous iron atom.
Nikolay [14]
The ionization energy of an element is the amount of energy required to remove one mole of electrons from the element in its gaseous state. The equations for the first three are:

Fe(g) → Fe⁺(g) + e⁻

Fe⁺(g) → Fe⁺²(g) + e⁻

Fe⁺²(g) → Fe⁺³(g) + e
