Which statement is true about the equations –3x + 4y = 12 and x – y = 1? The system of the equations has exactly one solution at

(–8, 3). The system of the equations has exactly one solution at (–4, 3). The system of the equations has no solution; the two lines are parallel. The system of the equations has an infinite number of solutions represented by either equation.

The equations are:
                        -3x + 4y = 12
                           x - y = 1

We solve for the solution by the substitution method. From the second equation,
                          x = 1 + y

We substitute x of the first equation with the expression derived above.

                       -3(1 + y) + 4y = 12
                           -3 -3y + 4y = 12
                               y - 3 = 12
Transposing,
                                   y = 15
Substituting this to the expression for x,
                       x = 1 + y = 1 + 15 = 16

Thus, the solution is (16,15).

Thus, the equations has exactly one solution which is equal to (16,15).

Suppose that a manager is interested in estimating the average amount of money customers spend in her store. After sampling 36 t
musickatia [10]

Answer:

The confidence interval for the mean is given by the following formula:

\bar X \pm t_{\alpha/2}\frac{s}{\sqrt{n}}   (1)

The 90% confidence interval for this case would be (38.01, 44.29) and is given.

The best interpretation for this case would be: We are 90% confident that the true average is between $ 38.01 and $ 44.29 .

And the best option would be:

The store manager is 90% confident that the average amount spent by all customers is between S38.01 and $44.29

Step-by-step explanation:

Assuming this complete question: Which statement gives a valid interpretation of the interval?

The store manager is 90% confident that the average amount spent by the 36 sampled customers is between S38.01 and $44.29.

There is a 90% chance that the mean amount spent by all customers is between S38.01 and $44.29.

There is a 90% chance that a randomly selected customer will spend between S38.01 and $44.29.

The store manager is 90% confident that the average amount spent by all customers is between S38.01 and $44.29

Previous concepts

A confidence interval is "a range of values that’s likely to include a population value with a certain degree of confidence. It is often expressed a % whereby a population means lies between an upper and lower interval".

The margin of error is the range of values below and above the sample statistic in a confidence interval.

Normal distribution, is a "probability distribution that is symmetric about the mean, showing that data near the mean are more frequent in occurrence than data far from the mean".

Solution to the problem

The confidence interval for the mean is given by the following formula:

\bar X \pm t_{\alpha/2}\frac{s}{\sqrt{n}}   (1)

The 90% confidence interval for this case would be (38.01, 44.29) and is given.

The best interpretation for this case would be: We are 90% confident that the true average is between $ 38.01 and $ 44.29 .

And the best option would be:

The store manager is 90% confident that the average amount spent by all customers is between S38.01 and $44.29

galina1969 [7]

Answer:

I think it is 6

Step-by-step explanation:

Because u have to find the upper and lower quartile first

so the upper quartile = 10

lower quartile = 16

then u would substract the lower quartile from the upper quartile which is 6

6 is your answer

Hope this helps u but if u ever need help let me know

Find the surface area of the triangular prism. A triangular prism. The base is a right triangle with base 1 foot, height 2 feet
mylen [45]

Answer:

<h2>17.6ft²</h2>

Step-by-step explanation:

The formula for calculating the surface area of a triangular prism is expressed as shown below:

SA= bh + pH

b= base of the triangle

h- height of the triangle

p= perimeter of the triangle

H= height of the prism

Given b = 1foot

h = 2feet

perimeter of the triangle = sum of all its sides = 1ft + 2ft + 2.2ft

p = 5.2ft

H = 3ft

Substituting the values into the formula for finding the surface area:

SA = 1(2)+5.2(3)

SA = 2+15.6

SA = 17.6ft²

The surface area of the triangular prism is  17.6ft²

A building engineer analyzes a concrete column with a circular cross section. The circumference of the column is 18 \pi18π18, pi
katrin [286]

The area of the cross section of the column is 18 \pi \ m^2

Explanation:

Given that a building engineer analyzes a concrete column with a circular cross section.

Also, given that the circumference of the column is 18 \pi meters.

We need to determine the area of the cross section of the column.

The area of the cross section of the column can be determined using the formula,

Area= \pi r^2

First, we shall determine the value of the radius r.

Since, given that circumference is 18 \pi meters.

We have,

2 \pi r=18 \pi

   r=9

Thus, the radius is r=9

Now, substituting the value r=9 in the formula Area= \pi r^2, we get,

Area = \pi (9)^2

Area = 81 \pi

Thus, the area of the cross section of the column is 18 \pi \ m^2

You are playing a board game with a friend. She owns and has developed the tiles Green Gardens and Silver Sidewalks. If you roll
IgorC [24]

Answer:

The expected value can be calculated as:

Es = x₁*p₁ + x₂*p2 + .....

where xₙ is the event (the amount of money that you win or lose, and pₙ is the probability for the event)

for example, in a 10 side dice, the probability of obtaining a specific number is 1/10.

we have a d10 i guess (a dice with 10 sides, 1 to 10)

if you roll from 1 to 7, nothing happens.

If you roll an 8, you lose $1500

if you roll a 9, you lose $75

if you roll a 10, you lose $2000 (and the game)

the expected value is,

Es = 1/10*(7*0 - 1*$1500 - 1*$75 - 1*$2000) = -$357

in the second case, you start paying $500.

if you roll a 7, you must pay $1000, if else, nothing happens.

Then the expected value is

Es = -$500 - 1/10*(-1*$1000 + 9*$0) = -$600

So the expected value is smaller in this case, so the deal is not fair
