Let d_n represent the number of pages Sasha reads in day n

for example d_7 is the number of pages that Sasha read in day 7.

in the first day Sasha reads 20 minutes means d_1=20 minutes

d_2=20+5=25 minutes, since Sasha reads 5 minutes more than day 1

so we can make the following list:

d_1=20
d_2=20+5
d_3=20++5+5=20+5*2
d_4=20+5+5+5=20+5*3

so clearly d_n=20+5(n-1)

in 30 days Sasha reads:

d_1+d_2+d_3+...+d_3_0=

= 20 +(20+5)+(20+5*2)+(20+5*3)+...+(20+5*29)

we have in total 30 twenties + 5(1+2+3+....+29), factorizing 5.

the sum 1+2+3+....+29 can be found by Gauss formula as (29*30)/2 = 435

So the total sum is 20*30+435=600+435=1035 (minutes)

Remark: Gauss formula states that 1+2+3+...+(n-1)+n = n(n+1)/2

Answer: 1035 minutes

Let a and b be real numbers where a=/b=/c=/0 which of the following functions could represent the graph below?
Tresset [83]

Answer: The second option;  y =  (x - a)^2*(x-b)^4

Step-by-step explanation:

Ok, we have that a and b are real numbers different than zero.

In the graph, we can see that the line touches the x-axis in two values. Now, if we would have an equation like:

y = x*(x - a)^3*(x - b)^3

then when x = 0 we would have:

y = 0*(0-a)^3*(0-b)^3 = 0

But in the graph, we can see that when x = 0, the value of y is different than zero, so we can discard options 1 and 3.

So the remaining options are:

y = (x - a)^2*(x-b)^4

y = (x - a)^5*(x - b)

Now, another thing you can see in the graph is that it is always positive.

Particularly the second option allows negative values for y because it has odd powers, then we can also discard this option.

(For example, if x > a and x < b we would have a negative value for y)

Then the only remaining option is y =  (x - a)^2*(x-b)^4

How many solutions does the equation 1/5(20x-25)=4x-5 have?
MariettaO [177]

Answer:

Infinitely many solutions

Step-by-step explanation:

we need to simplify the equations

1/5(20x-25)=4x-5

distribute the 1/5

4x-5=4x-5

+5 to each side

4x=4x

divide each side by 4

x=x

since x=x there are infinitely many solutions.
