Answer:

1) (b) Angle 5

2) (d) Alternate Exterior Angles Theorem

3) (a) 42 degrees

Step-by-step explanation:

   Given :  A pair of parallel line f and g with z as transversal.

1)  To find angle congruent to angle 1.

  • Congruent angles are those angles having same  measurement.
  • Corresponding angles are those angles that lies in same position on different parallel lines sharing relative positions.

Out of given options only angle 5 is congruent to angle 1 as they form a pair of corresponding angles and measure of corresponding angles are always equal.

2) To find the theorem that can be used directly to  prove that

Angle 1 ≅ Angle 8

Alternate Exterior Angles Theorem states that for a pair of parallel lines the angles that lies to the exterior and are opposite to each other are congruent to each other.

Since,  angle 1 and angle 8 lies on exterior of parallel lines and are opposite to each other , so Alternate Exterior Angles Theorem is used to prove  Angle 1 ≅ Angle 8.

3) m∠5 = 42° we have to find the m∠4.

Since angle 5 and angle 4 forms a pair of alternate interior angle.

The angle forms when a pair of parallel lines cuts by a trasnversal and the angles that lies lies inside the parallel lines on same side of transversal are alternate interior angles.

Thus, m∠5 = 42° = m∠4

m∠4 = 42°

<u>Part 1) which angle is congruent to Angle 1?</u>

we know that

When two lines are crossed by another line (which is called the Transversal), the angles in matching corners are called <u>corresponding angles</u>

m∠5=m∠1 ----------> by corresponding angles postulate

therefore

<u>the answer Part 1) is </u>

Angle 5

Part 2) Which can be used to directly prove that Angle 1 =~ Angle 8?

we know that

<u>Alternate exterior angles</u> are defined as two exterior angles on opposite sides of a transversal which lie on different parallel lines.

in this problem

m∠1=m∠8 -------> by alternate exterior angles theorem

therefore

<u>the answer part 2) is the option </u>

Alternate Exterior Angles Theorem

<u>Part 3) If m Angle 5 = 42 degrees, what is m Angle 4?</u>

we know that

<u> Alternate interior angles</u> are two interior angles which lie on different parallel lines and on opposite sides of a transversal

m∠4=m∠5 --------> by alternate interior angles theorem

so

m∠4=42\ degrees

therefore

<u>the answer Part 3) is</u>

42\ degrees

Dakari makes 2 dozen jars of jam. The total weight of all of the filled jars is 211.2 ounces. When empty, each jar weighs 1.2 ou
Rzqust [24]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Total weight of all of the filled jars with jam = 211.2 ounces

When empty, each jar weighs 1.2 ounces

Total weight of 2 dozens of empty jar = 24 × 1.2 ounces

= 28.8 ounces

Total weight of jam in 2 dozens jar = Total weight of all of the filled jars with jam - Total weight of 2 dozens of empty jar

= 211.2 ounces - 28.8 ounces

= 182.4 ounces

The weight of jam in one jar = 182.4 ounces / 24 jars

= 7.6 ounces

The weight of jam in one jar = 7.6 ounces

Two window washers start at the heights shown. (A: 21 ft high rising 8 in per second. The other is 50 feet high descending 11inc
babunello [35]

For this case, the first thing we are going to do is write the generic equation of motion for the vertical axis.

We have then:

h = \frac {1} {2} gt ^ 2 + vo * t + h0

Where,

  • <em>g: acceleration of gravity </em>
  • <em>vo: initial speed </em>
  • <em>h0: initial height </em>

For the first body:

h1 = \frac {1} {2} gt ^ 2 + \frac {8} {12} * t + 21

For the second body:

h2 = \frac {1} {2} gt ^ 2 - \frac {11} {12} * t + 50

By the time both bodies have the same height we have:

h1 = h2\\

\frac {1} {2} gt ^ 2 + \frac {8} {12} * t + 21 = \frac {1} {2} gt ^ 2 - \frac {11} {12} * t + 50

Rewriting we have:

\frac {8} {12} * t + 21 = - \frac {11} {12} * t + 50

\frac {8} {12} * t + \frac {11} {12} * t = 50 - 21

\frac {19} {12} * t = 29

Clearing time:

t = 29 (\frac {12} {19})\\t = 18.31s

Answer:

 it takes 18.31s for the two window washers to reach the same height

While driving home for the holidays, you can’t seem to get Little’s Law out of your mind. You note that your average speed of tr
suter [353]

Answer:

1,200 cars per hour

Step-by-step explanation:

Let's suppose the car flow is constant and based on the observations stated in the problem.

If we set and imaginary car counter where your car is, then there are 25 cars in ¼ of a mile (including yours) going at your same speed.

Now compute how long it will take to travel ¼ mile. As your speed is constant 60 mph, we can cross multiply

60 miles -----------> 1 hour

¼ of a mile --------> x hours

and

60/ (¼) = 1/x ---------> x = 1/240 hours.

This means that in 1/240 hours the 25 cars will be passing the counter.

Now compute how many cars will pass through our counter in 1 hour. Again, cross multiplying

1/240 hours -------> 25 cars

1 hour --------------> x cars

and

1/240 = 25/x -------> x = 25*240 = 1,200 cars.

So, the flow rate of the highway (going in your direction) in cars per hour is 1,200 cars per hour.

Given that a 90% confidence interval for the mean height of all adult males in Idaho measured in inches was [62.532, 76.478]. Us
grigory [225]

Answer:

The confidence interval on this case is given by:

\bar X \pm z_{\alpha/2}\frac{\sigma}{\sqrt{n}} (1)

For this case the confidence interval is given by (62.532, 76.478)[/tex]

And we can calculate the mean with this:

\bar X = \frac{62.532+76.478}{2}= 69.505

So then the mean for this case is 69.505

Step-by-step explanation:

Previous concepts

The margin of error is the range of values below and above the sample statistic in a confidence interval.

Normal distribution, is a "probability distribution that is symmetric about the mean, showing that data near the mean are more frequent in occurrence than data far from the mean".

A confidence interval is "a range of values that’s likely to include a population value with a certain degree of confidence. It is often expressed a % whereby a population means lies between an upper and lower interval".

\bar X represent the sample mean

\mu population mean (variable of interest)

\sigma represent the population standard deviation

n represent the sample size

Assuming the X follows a normal distribution

X \sim N(\mu, \sigma)

The confidence interval on this case is given by:

\bar X \pm z_{\alpha/2}\frac{\sigma}{\sqrt{n}} (1)

For this case the confidence interval is given by (62.532, 76.478)[/tex]

And we can calculate the mean with this:

\bar X = \frac{62.532+76.478}{2}= 69.505

So then the mean for this case is 69.505
