Joanie runs the concession stand for the school's baseball games. At each game, the best selling items are pretzels and hot dogs

. Pretzels are $3 each, and hot dogs are $2 each. Today she sold 15 more hot dogs than pretzels and made $195 in total sales. Use a system of equations to model the situation above, and determine which of the following are possible amounts of pretzels and hot dogs that Joanie sold today.

3p+2h=195

p + 15 = h

3p + 2(p + 15) = 195

3p + 2p + 30 = 195

5p = 165 (combine like terms and isolate your variable)

p = 33

33 + 15 = 48 (plug 33 into your original second equation)

ANSWER: 33 pretzels and 48 hotdogs
**You can plug these into your original (first) equation to check your answer

Answer:

Number of hot dogs sold= 48

Number of Pretzels sold= 33

Step-by-step explanation:

Let 'h' be the number of hot dogs and 'p' be the number of pretzels that Joanie has sold today.

As  it is given that:

Today she sold 15 more hot dogs than pretzels and made $195 in total sales.

i..e in terms of equation it could be represented as:

  •  h=p+15 which could also be written as:

          h-p=15------------(1)

  • 2h+3p=195--------(2)

( since Pretzels are $3 each, and hot dogs are $2 each )

Now we solve the two equations above to find the value of h and p.

we will use the method of substitution to solve this system.

Substitute the value of h in terms of p from equation 1 in equation (2) to obtain:

2(p+15)+3p=195

2p+30+3p=195

5p+30=195

5p=195-30

5p=165

p=33.

Now the value of h is:

h=33+15

h=48.

Hence, the number of hot dogs sold by Joanie= 48

and number of Pretzels sold by Joanie= 33

If we were to make a poset of the form (A, |), where is the symbol for divisibility, which of the following sets A would yield a
Marrrta [24]

Answer:

IV. A+{1, 2, 3, 6, 12}

Step-by-step explanation:

The set of natural numbers form a poset number under relation of > or =. The discrete variables are used to form a poset. The symbols for divisibility in poset form are when an integer is divided by the variable without integer. The correct answer is therefore 4th option.

Mr. Shamir employs two part-time typists, Inna and Jim, for his typing needs. Inna charges $15 an hour and can type 6 pages an h
coldgirl [10]

Answer:

The minimum cost would be 480$ when Inna works for 8 hours and Jim works for 20 hours.

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given the following information in the question:

Charges for 1 hour for Inna = $15

Number of pages typed by Inna in 1 hour = 6

Charges for 1 hour for Jim = $18

Number of pages typed by Jim in 1 hour = 8

Let x be the number of hours Inna work and let y be the number of hours Jim work.

Total cost = 15x + 18y

We have to minimize this cost.

Then, we can write the following inequalities:

6x + 8y \geq 208\\x \geq 8\\y \geq 8\\

The corner points as evaluated from graph are: (8,20) and (24,8)

C(8,20) = 480$

C(24,8) = 504$

Hence, the minimum cost would be 480$ when Inna works for 8 hours and Jim works for 20 hours.

The attached image shows the graph.

On a coordinate plane, square P Q R S is shown. Point P is at (4, 2), point Q is at (8, 5), point R is at (5, 9), and point S is
sergey [27]

Answer:

(D)The midpoint of both diagonals is (4 and one-half, 5 and one-half), the slope of RP is 7, and the slope of SQ is Negative one-sevenths.

Step-by-step explanation:

  • Point P is at (4, 2),
  • Point Q is at (8, 5),
  • Point R is at (5, 9), and
  • Point S is at (1, 6)

Midpoint of SQ =\frac{1}{2}(1+8,5+6)=(4.5,5.5)

Midpoint of PR =\frac{1}{2}(4+5,2+9)=(4.5,5.5)

Now, we have established that the midpoints (point of bisection) are at the same point.

Two lines are perpendicular if the slope of one is the negative reciprocal of the other.

In option D

  • Slope of RP =7
  • Slope of SQ  =-\dfrac17

Therefore, lines RP and SQ are perpendicular.

Option D is the correct option.
