Answer:

The game is fair.

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given that a board game is played as follows; a number cube numbered 1 to 6 is rolled.

Total cases=6

If the number 1 comes up , then you get nothing

Number of favourable cases that you get nothing =1

The probability that you get nothing =\frac{1}{6}=0.167

Using of probability formula : P(E)=\frac{Number\;of\;favourable\;cases}{Total\;number\;of\;cases}

If number 2,3 or 5 comes up you win 40 points

Number of favourable cases that you wins=3

The probability that you wins =\frac{3}{6}=0.5

Therefore, total number of points that you get =0.5\times 40=20

If number 4 or 6 comes up then you lose 60 points

Number of favourable cases that you lose=2

The probability that you lose =\frac{2}{6}=0.3

Therefore, total number of points that you get =0.3\times 60=18

Therefore, the probability of winning is greater than the probability of lose or you get nothing and the point that you get is greater than the points you lose.

Hence , the game is fair.

This is a fair game because you have a chance to win the same amount of money as you do to lose it.

Irina-Kira [14]
Hi there!

PART A:
The system of equations we would use would be:
x + y = 22 (amount of items)
3x + 1y = 30 (cost)

Variables:
x = the amount of strawberry wafers bought at the price of $3
y = the amount of chocolate wafers bought at the price of $1

PART B:
To solve, we'll use substitution because we can easily isolate a variable using the first equation.

Work:
x + y = 22 (first equation)
y = 22 - x (isolating a variable)
3x + 1y = 30 (second equation)
3x + (22 - x) = 30 (substituting into the second equation)
2x + 22 = 30 (simplifying)
2x = 8 (subtracting)
x = 4 strawberry wafers
4 + y = 22 (substituting x into the first equation to solve for y)
y = 18 chocolate wafers

ANSWER:
They bought 4 strawberry wafers and 18 chocolate wafers.

Hope this helps!! :)

Zalia meets her friend at the science museum to see a special exhibition. The admission to the museum is $12.50 per person plus
VikaD [51]
Museum admission fee = $12.50

Lunch = 5.95 + 1.25 + 1.69 = $8.89
Tax = 7.25% of 8.89 = 0.66675
Tip = 15% of 8.89 = 1.3335
Total spend for lunch = 8.89 + 0.66675 + 1.3335 = 10.89

Total spend for the day = 10.89 + 12.50 = $23.39
