<span>From Newton Law F = Ma: Where the net force F is the difference between the eastward horizontal force - frictional force on the crate. So F = 70 - 10 = 60N and the mass m = 20Kg. Hence we have 60 = 20a. Our acceleration, a, = 3.0 ms^(-2)</span>

Given: Force acting along x axis or horizontal due eastward Fₓ = 70 N

           Mass m = 20 Kg;  Frictional Force Ff = 10 N; coefficient of friction = ?

           Normal force N = mg;  g = 9.8 m/s²

Required: acceleration "a"

Solve for coefficient of friction Ff = μN  or  Ff = μmg

μ = 10 N/(20 Kg)(9.8 m/s²)  μ = 0.05

Formula to follow:  Fₓ - Ff = ma;  a = Fₓ - μmg/m

a = 70 N - 0.05(20 Kg)(9.8 m/s²)/20 Kg  Cancel the unit of Kg

a = 3.01 m/s²

A ball, which has a mass of 1.25 kg, is thrown straight up from the top of a building 225 meters tall with a velocity of 52.0 m/
Elena-2011 [213]

First we will find the speed of the ball just before it will hit the floor

so in order to find the speed of the cart we will first use energy conservation

KE_i + PE_i = KE_f + PE_f

\frac{1}{2}mv_i^2 + mgh = \frac{1}{2}mv_f^2 + 0

\frac{1}{2}(1.25)(52)^2 + 1.25(9.8)(225) = \frac{1}{2}(1.25)v_f^2

So by solving above equation we will have

v_f = 84.3 m/s

now in order to find the momentum we can use

P = mv

P = 1.25 \times 84.3

P = 105.4 kg m/s

on the surface of planet x a body with a mass of 10 kilograms weighs 40 newtons. The magnitude of the acceleration due to gravit
tamaranim1 [39]
Based on the Newton's second law of motion, the value of the net force acting on the object is equal to the product of the mass and the acceleration due to gravity. If we let a be the acceleration due to gravity, the equation that would allow us to calculate it's value is,
      W = m x a
where W is weight, m is mass, and a is acceleration. Substituting the known values,
    40 kg m/s² = (10 kg) x a
Calculating for the value of a from the equation will give us an answer equal to 4.
ANSWER: 4 m/s².

The mass of Venus is 81.5% that of the earth, and its radius is 94.9% that of the earth. If a rock weighs 75.0 N on earth, compu
IgorLugansk [536]

Answer:

g = 0.905 gE

W  = 67.9 N

Explanation:

given data

mass of Venus mv =  81.5% = 0.815

radius Rv = 94.9% = 0.949

weighs W = 75.0 N

solution

we apply here acceleration due to gravity at earth surface that is

g = \frac{Gm}{R^2}   = 9.80 m/s²  ............1

so

g = \frac{G(0.815)}{0.949R^2}

g = 0.905 gE

and

W = m gv

W = 0.905 m gE

W  = 0.905 × 75

W  = 67.9 N
