Momentum would be the same before and after the collision
 Before the collision:
 Momentum of the single cart: 1 * 0.50 = 0.50
 After the collision
 velocity = 0.25m / s
 1 * 0.25 + 1 * 0.25 =
 0.25 * (1 + 1) =
 0.25 * 2 =
 0.50
 Now new momentum will be 0.5

The momentum of the system of two cars after the collision will be \boxed{0.50\text{ kg.m/s}}.

Explanation:

Given:

The mass of each of the laboratory car is 1\text{ kg}.

The velocity of the laboratory cart is 0.50\text{ m/s}.

Concept:

The momentum of a body is defined as the amount of motion contained in the body at the particular instant. The momentum of the body is defined as the product of the mass and velocity of the body.

Write the expression for the momentum of the laboratory cart.

p_{1}=m\times{v}                                               ...... (1)

Here, p_1 is the momentum of the cart, m is the amss of the cart and v is the velocity of the cart.

The initial momentum of the laboratory cart which is in motion.

\begin{aligned}p_{i}&=(1\text{ kg})\times{(0.5\text{ m/s})}\\&=0.5\text{ kg.m/s}\end{aligned}

As the cart collides and the surface is frictionless, the momentum of the system will remain conserved after the collision.

The two carts will stick to one another after the collision. So, the mass of the system will be 2\text{ kg} after the collision and the speed of the carts after collision is 0.25\text{ m/s}.

Substitute the value of mass and velocity of the system in the equation of momentum.

\begin{aligned}p'&=(2\text{ kg})\times(0.25\text{ m/s})\\&=0.50\text{ m/s}\end{aligned}

Thus, the momentum of the system of two cars after the collision will be \boxed{0.50\text{ kg.m/s}}.

The magnitude of the electric current is inversely proportional to the _____ of the circuits in R2D2.
alisha [4.7K]
All you need to know for this question is Ohm’s Law:

V=IR
I=V/R
R=V/I

So, the answer is (3) Resistance, since it is inversely proportional to Current (I=V/R)

Substance X is placed in a container with substance Y. Both substances are fluids. Substance X initially sinks to the bottom of
Brut [27]

Answer: Option (A) is the correct answer.

Explanation:

Convection is a process in which heat transfers from a hotter substance to a colder substance.

As a result, the substance which is less dense will rise and the more denser substance will sink due to the influence of gravity.

Thus, we can conclude that in the given situation substance X will rise due to convection.

A gymnast spring vertical upward from a trampoline as in figure. The gymnast leaves the trampoline at height of 1.20m and reache
vaieri [72.5K]

Answer:

The initial velocity of the gymnast is 8.5 m/s.

Explanation:

We can use the kinematic equation

v_f^2= v_o^2+2ad

to figure out the initial velocity v_o of the gymnast.

Now, when the gymnast reaches the maximum height,  the distance he has traveled is d = 4.8m- 1.2m = 3.6 m, and his velocity is zero; therefore v_f =0.

Thus, we have

0 = v_0^2+2(-10m/s^2)(3.6m)

v_0^2=72m^2/s^2

\boxed{v_0= 8.5m/s}

What does the term equilibrium refer to?
snow_lady [41]
<h3><u>Answer</u>;</h3>

A) the resting position of the wave

<h3><u>Explanation</u>;</h3>
  • A wave is a transmission of a disturbance from one point which is the source to another, and this involves transfer of energy through a material medium.
  • <em><u>Equilibrium refers to a state of balance between opposing forces, it is a state of balance in which opposing forces cancel one another. </u></em>
  • <em><u>When wave is in rest position its called equilibrium position of a wave. When a wave travels through a material medium, the particles in the medium are disturbed from their resting, or equilibrium positions.</u></em>
