Momentum would be the same before and after the collision
 Before the collision:
 Momentum of the single cart: 1 * 0.50 = 0.50
 After the collision
 velocity = 0.25m / s
 1 * 0.25 + 1 * 0.25 =
 0.25 * (1 + 1) =
 0.25 * 2 =
 0.50
 Now new momentum will be 0.5

The momentum of the system of two cars after the collision will be \boxed{0.50\text{ kg.m/s}}.

Explanation:

Given:

The mass of each of the laboratory car is 1\text{ kg}.

The velocity of the laboratory cart is 0.50\text{ m/s}.

Concept:

The momentum of a body is defined as the amount of motion contained in the body at the particular instant. The momentum of the body is defined as the product of the mass and velocity of the body.

Write the expression for the momentum of the laboratory cart.

p_{1}=m\times{v}                                               ...... (1)

Here, p_1 is the momentum of the cart, m is the amss of the cart and v is the velocity of the cart.

The initial momentum of the laboratory cart which is in motion.

\begin{aligned}p_{i}&=(1\text{ kg})\times{(0.5\text{ m/s})}\\&=0.5\text{ kg.m/s}\end{aligned}

As the cart collides and the surface is frictionless, the momentum of the system will remain conserved after the collision.

The two carts will stick to one another after the collision. So, the mass of the system will be 2\text{ kg} after the collision and the speed of the carts after collision is 0.25\text{ m/s}.

Substitute the value of mass and velocity of the system in the equation of momentum.

\begin{aligned}p'&=(2\text{ kg})\times(0.25\text{ m/s})\\&=0.50\text{ m/s}\end{aligned}

Thus, the momentum of the system of two cars after the collision will be \boxed{0.50\text{ kg.m/s}}.

A transition metal complex in solution has an absorption peak at 450 nm, in the blue region of the visible spectrum. What color
Ivan

Answer:

In the case of a solution transition metal complex that has an absorption peak at 450 nm in the blue region of the visible spectrum, the (complementary) color of this solution is orange (option B).

Explanation:

The portion of UV-visible radiation that is absorbed implies that a portion of electromagnetic radiation is not absorbed by the sample and is therefore transmitted through it and can be captured by the human eye. That is, in the visible region of a complex, the visible color of a solution can be seen and that  corresponds to the wavelengths of light it transmits, not absorbs. The  absorbing color is complementary to the color it transmits.

So, in the attached image you can see the approximate wavelengths with the colors, where they locate the wavelength with the absorbed color, you will be able to observe the complementary color that is seen or reflected.

A wheel rotates without friction about a stationary horizontal axis at the center of the wheel. A constant tangential force equa
love history [14]

Answer:

I = 16 kg*m²

Explanation:

Newton's second law for rotation

τ = I * α   Formula  (1)

where:

τ : It is the moment applied to the body.  (Nxm)

I :  it is the moment of inertia of the body with respect to the axis of rotation (kg*m²)

α : It is angular acceleration. (rad/s²)

Kinematics of the wheel

Equation of circular motion uniformly accelerated :

ωf = ω₀+ α*t  Formula (2)

Where:

α : Angular acceleration (rad/s²)

ω₀ : Initial angular speed ( rad/s)

ωf : Final angular speed ( rad

t : time interval (rad)

Data

ω₀ = 0

ωf = 1.2 rad/s

t = 2 s

Angular acceleration of the wheel

We replace data in the formula (2):

ωf = ω₀+ α*t

1.2= 0+ α*(2)

α*(2) = 1.2

α = 1.2 / 2

α = 0.6 rad/s²

Magnitude of the net torque (τ )

τ = F *R

Where:

F  = tangential force (N)

R  = radio (m)

τ = 80 N *0.12 m

τ = 9.6 N *m

Rotational inertia of the wheel

We replace data in the formula (1):

τ = I * α

9.6 = I *(0.6 )

I = 9.6 / (0.6 )

I = 16 kg*m²

A rod of mass M = 2.95 kg and length L can rotate about a hinge at its left end and is initially at rest. A putty ball of mass m
madam [21]

Answer:

Explanation:

angular momentum of the putty about the point of rotation

= mvR   where m is mass , v is velocity of the putty and R is perpendicular distance between line of velocity and point of rotation .

= .045 x 4.23 x 2/3 x .95 cos46

= .0837 units

moment of inertia of rod = ml² / 3 , m is mass of rod and l is length

= 2.95 x .95² / 3

I₁ = .8874 units

moment of inertia of rod + putty

I₁ + mr²

m is mass of putty and r is distance where it sticks

I₂  = .8874 + .045 x (2 x .95 / 3)²

I₂ = .905

Applying conservation of angular momentum

angular momentum of putty = final angular momentum of rod+ putty

.0837 = .905 ω

ω is final angular velocity of rod + putty

ω = .092 rad /s .

You and your friend Peter are putting new shingles on a roof pitched at 20degrees . You're sitting on the very top of the roof w
Anit [1.1K]

Answer:

v₀ =3.8 m/s

Explanation:

Newton's second law of the box:

∑F = m*a Formula (1)

∑F : algebraic sum of the forces in Newton (N)

m : mass in kilograms (kg)

a : acceleration in meters over second square (m/s²)

Known data

m=2.1 kg  mass of the box

d= 5.4m  length of the roof

θ = 20° angle θ of the roof with respect to the horizontal direction

μk= 0.51 : coefficient of kinetic friction between the box and the roof

g = 9.8 m/s² : acceleration due to gravity

Forces acting on the box

We define the x-axis in the direction parallel to the movement of the box on the roof  and the y-axis in the direction perpendicular to it.

W: Weight of the box  : In vertical direction

N : Normal force : perpendicular to the direction the  roof

fk : Friction force: parallel to the direction to the roof

Calculated of the weight  of the box

W= m*g  =  (2.1 kg)*(9.8 m/s²)= 20.58 N

x-y weight components

Wx= Wsin θ= (20.58)*sin(20)° =7.039 N

Wy= Wcos θ =(20.58)*cos(20)°= 19.34 N

Calculated of the Normal force

∑Fy = m*ay    ay = 0

N-Wy= 0

N=Wy =19.34 N

Calculated of the Friction force:

fk=μk*N= 0.51* 19.34 N = 9.86 N

We apply the formula (1) to calculated acceleration of the block:

∑Fx = m*ax  ,  ax= a  : acceleration of the block

Wx-f = ( 2.1)*a

7.039 - 9.86  = ( 2.1)*a

-2.821 = ( 2.1)*a

a=(-2.821) /( 2.1)

a= -1.34  m/s²

Kinematics of the box

Because the box moves with uniformly accelerated movement we apply the following formula to calculate the final speed of the block :

vf²=v₀²+2*a*d Formula (2)

Where:

d:displacement  = 5.4 m

v₀: initial speed

vf: final speed  = 0

a : acceleration of the box = -1.34  m/s²

We replace data in the formula (2)

0²=v₀²+2*(-1.34)*(5.4)

2*(1.34)*(5.4)= v₀²

v_{o} =\sqrt{14.472}

v₀ = 3.8 m/s
