Read the following excerpts from a story about Norse mythology: “Loki then disguised himself in servant garb so that he might ad

minister the sleeping potion.” “The thunder god Thor relied on strength and daring, while his brother Loki trusted his cunning instead.” “Thor was doomed to lose the race from the beginning, for, you see, Loki had devised a shortcut for himself.” Which of the following inferences do these clues support? A. Loki’s envy of his brother’s strength was all-consuming. B. Loki was unconcerned about breaking the rules of decent society. C. Those who rely on their cunning defeat those who depend on strength. D. The competitive nature of Thor and Loki’s relationship had its origin in their childhood. \

Answer:

The clues given support the idea that <em>Loki was unconcerned about breaking the rules of decent society.</em> <u>The correct answer is B.</u>

Explanation:

By reading these lines, the audience can infer that Loki doesn't care about society's rules. Loki cheats to win the race -when we know we are not allowed to do so-, he also "<em>disguised himself in servant garb so that he might administer the sleeping potion</em>", and his lack of strength doesn't bother him because he trusts his cunning. <u>Loki is clever and he figures out the way of getting things without having the strength of his brother Thor</u>. These ways are not always approved by the society, but he doesn't seem to care about it and get what he wants in the way he thinks is beneficial for him, that is why I chose the second option.

<span>The structural element that is used in the excerpt by Anaya but not in the excerpt by Nye is D.logos. Logos is a rhetorical tool that is usually applied as appeal to logic and reason. The first excerpt sets its mood by representing events as they are, and there is a clear point of 'cause and effect': the information given by author is supported with reason. The second excerpt is a nice example of allusion irony, so it can be defined as literary anecdote.</span>

What are the topics of Satanta’s speech? Check the two boxes that apply.
Black_prince [1.1K]

Answer:

Satanta is a Kiowa chief. One of his most important speeches was about opposition to moving to a reservation and the conflict over Kiowa land. Satanta stated that he did not want to settle on a reservation because he wanted to roam and feel free. He continues to say that land that belonged to his ancestors has now been occupied by soldiers that have cut down timber and killed the buffalos.

How does the character of Mrs. Linde help develop the idea of gender inequality?
UNO [17]
Hello! I haven’t read this story, but I believe the correct answer would be the second option.

Explanation: For option two, she says she didn’t think she could turn down his proposal, indicating that she believed she didn’t have a choice in the matter. When gender inequality was more prominent, it was common for women to be forced into marriages, whether it be social status, or financial status for the woman’s whole family. All other options imply that she’d be marrying to help him out of her own goodness of heart.
