Two entertainment venues are planning to expand the size of their audiences and each has decided on the rate at which it can inc

rease its audience size. The functions below represent the prospective audience sizes of the venues after t years.
City Arts Center : C(t) = 250(1.45)^t/5
Oakwood Auditorium : C(t) = 200(1.55)^t/7

Which statement is true about the audience size of the venues?

The annual rate of increase in the audience size of Oakwood Auditorium is greater than the annual rate of increase in the audience size of City Arts Center.

The annual rate of increase in the audience size of Oakwood Auditorium is less than the annual rate of increase in the audience size of City Arts Center.

The annual rate of increase in the audience size of Oakwood Auditorium is the same as the annual rate of increase in the audience size of City Arts Center.

The annual percentage rates of increase in the audience sizes cannot be determined from this information.

Let us see... ideally we would like to have all equations with the same exponent or the same base so that we can compare the rates. Since the unknown is in the exponent, we have to work with them. In general, x^(y/z)= \sqrt[z]{x^y}.
Applying this to the exponential parts of the functions, we have that the first equation is equal to:
250*(\sqrt[5]{1.45} ^t)=250*(1.077)^t
The second equation is equal to: 200* (1.064)^t in a similar way.
We have that the base of the first equation is higher, thus the rate of growth is faster in the first case; Choice B is correct.

Answer: The annual rate of increase in the audience size of Oakwood Auditorium is less than the annual rate of increase in the audience size of City Arts Center.

Step-by-step explanation:

Here, the function that shows the audience sizes of the venues after t years. by City Arts Center is,

C(t) = 250(1.45)^{\frac{t}{5}}

⇒ C(t) = 250((1.45)^{\frac{1}{5}})^t\implies =250(1.07714358779)^t

Thus, the increasing rate of the function is 0.07714358779.

Similarly, the function that shows the audience sizes of the venues after t years. by Oakwood Auditorium is,

C(t) = 200((1.55)^\frac{1}{7})^t\implies C(t) = 200(1.06460926794)^t

Thus, the increasing rate of the function is 0.06460926794.

Since, 0.07714358779 > 0.06460926794

Hence, The annual rate of increase in the audience size of Oakwood Auditorium is less than the annual rate of increase in the audience size of City Arts Center.

A line passes through the points (p, a) and (p, –a) where p and a are real numbers and p ≠ 0. Describe each of the following. Ex
MissTica

Answer:

Part A) The slope is undefined

Part B) The equation of the line is x=p

Part C) None y-intercept

Part D) The slope of a line perpendicular to the given line is equal to zero

Step-by-step explanation:

we have that

Describe

A) slope of the line

B) equation of the line

C) y-intercept

D) slope of a line perpendicular to the given line

Part A) slope of the line

we know that

The formula to calculate the slope between two points is equal to

m=\frac{y2-y1}{x2-x1}

we have

(p,a)\ (p,-a)

Substitute the values

m=\frac{-a-a}{p-p}

m=\frac{-2a}{0}  -----> the slope is undefined

Its a vertical line (parallel to the y-axis)

Part B) Equation of the line

we know that

The equation of a vertical line is equal to the x-coordinate of the points through which the line passes.

so

x=p

Part C) The y-intercept

The y-intercept is the value of y when the value of x is equal to zero

The vertical line not intercept the y-axis

so

None y-intercept

Part D) slope of a line perpendicular to the given line

A line perpendicular to the given line is a horizontal line (parallel to the x-axis)

therefore

The slope is equal to zero

What is the error due to using linear interpolation to estimate the value of sinxsin⁡x at x = \pi/3? your answer should have at
Serhud [2]
<h3>Answer:</h3>
  • using y = x, the error is about 0.1812
  • using y = (x -π/4 +1)/√2, the error is about 0.02620
<h3>Step-by-step explanation:</h3>

The actual value of sin(π/3) is (√3)/2 ≈ 0.86602540.

If the sine function is approximated by y=x (no error at x = 0), then the error at x=π/3 is ...

... x -sin(x) @ x=π/3

... π/3 -(√3)/2 ≈ 0.18117215 ≈ 0.1812

You know right away this is a bad approximation, because the approximate value is π/3 ≈ 1.04719755, a value greater than 1. The range of the sine function is [-1, 1] so there will be no values greater than 1.

___

If the sine function is approximated by y=(x+1-π/4)/√2 (no error at x=π/4), then the error at x=π/3 is ...

... (x+1-π/4)/√2 -sin(x) @ x=π/3

... (π/12 +1)/√2 -(√3)/2 ≈ 0.026201500 ≈ 0.02620
