Each cone of the hourglass has a height of 15 millimeters. The total height of the sand within the top portion of the hourglass

is 45 millimeters. The radius of both cylinder and cone is 6 millimeters. Sand drips from the top of the hourglass to the bottom at a rate of 10π cubic millimeters per second. How many seconds will it take until all of the sand has dripped to the bottom of the hourglass?

Calculate the volume of sand, the cone will be completely filled and the cylinder will have sand up to the 30 mm level.

Volume of sand will = the volume of the cone:
= 1/3 * pi * (6 mm)^2 * 15
= 1/3 * pi * 36 * 15 =180 pi cubic mm

the cylinder will have a volume of sand equal to:
= pi * (6 mm)^2 * 30 mm
= pi * 36 sq mm * 30 mm
= 1080 pi cubic mm

The total sand is the sum:
= 1080 pi cubic mm +180 pi cubic mm
= 1260 pi cubic mm. <span>

Jeff had $20. He spent 1/8 of his money on lunch and 2/5 of his money at the movies. How much money does Jeff have left?
Alona [7]
The total amount of money that Jeff has is $20
total fraction of his expenses on lunch and movies is:
(2/5+1/8)
=21/40
the remaining fraction is:
1-21/40
=19/40
thus the amount of cash that Jeff was left with will be:
19/40×20
=$ 9.5

The graph shows a fir tree's diameter growth over a 50 year period.
Brilliant_brown [7]

Answer:

The answer is B.) The diameter of the fir tree when planted and 20 inches

Step-by-step explanation:

The y-intercept is the initial diameter of the fir tree (10 inches). At the end of 50 years, the tree's diameter is 30 inches. Therefore, 30 − 10 = 20 inches of growth occurred over the 50 year period. The diameter of the fir tree when planted. The fir tree's diameter was 10 inches when it was planted.

Solve for x: 5x + one third(3x + 6) &gt; 14
Masteriza [31]

Answer:

x > 2

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

5x + \frac{1}{3}(3x + 6) > 14 ← distribute and simplify left side

5x + x + 2 > 14

6x + 2 > 14 ( subtract 2 from both sides )

6x > 12 ( divide both sides by 6 )

x > 2

Lily built a rectangular prism with cubes. The area of the base is 16 connecting cubes. It is 6 layers high what is the volume o
Vsevolod [243]

Answer:

Volume of prism is equal to 96 units

Step-by-step explanation:

let the side of the cube be of one unit.

Then, the area of the base is equal to 16 connecting cubes

Assuming a square base of the rectangular prism.

Length of one side of the base of rectangular prism = 4 units

Similarly, width of the base of rectangular prism = 4 units

The height of the rectangular prism is 6 units

Volume of the prim = Length * Width  * Height

Substituting the given values in above equation, we get -

V = 4* 4* 6\\V = 96

Volume of prism is equal to 96 units
