Sophia has an ear infection. The doctor prescribes a course of antibiotics. Sophia is told to take 500 mg doses of the antibioti

c regularly every 12 hours for 10 days.
Sophia is curious and wants to know how much of the drug will be in her body over the course of the 10 days. She does some research online and finds out that at the end of 12 hours, about 4.5% of the drug is still in the body.

What quantity of the drug is in the body right after the first dose, the second dose, the third dose, the fourth dose?

When will the total amount of the antibiotic in Sophia’s body be the highest? What is that amount?

Answer Sophia’s original question: Describe how much of the drug will be in her body at various points over the course of the 10 days?

Part 1:

Let

      Q₁ = Amount of the drug in the body after the first dose.
      Q₂ =  250 mg

<span>As we know that after 12 hours about 4% of the drug is still present in the body.
For Q</span>₂<span>,
we get:
             Q</span>₂ = 4% of Q₁ + 250
                   = (0.04 × 250) + 250
                   = 10 + 250
                   = 260 mg

Therefore, after the second dose, 260 mg of the drug is present in the body.

Now, for Q₃ :

<span>We get;
           Q</span>₃ = 4% of Q2 + 250
                = 0.04 × 260 + 250
<span>                = 10.4 <span>+ 250
                = 260.4

</span></span><span><span>For Q₄,
We get;
           Q₄ = 4% of Q₃ + 250
                 = 0.04 × 260.4 + 250
                 = 10.416 + 250
                 = 260.416
</span><span>
Part 2:
To find out how large that amount is, we have to find Q₄₀.
Using the similar pattern

for Q₄₀,
We get;
            Q₄₀ = 250 + 250 × (0.04)¹ + 250 × (0.04)² + 250 × (0.04)³⁹

Taking 250 as common;

</span></span>            Q₄₀ =<span> 250 (1 + 0.04 + 0.042 + ⋯ + 0.0439)
<span>                  = 2501 − 0.04401 − 0.04
</span> </span>           Q₄₀ = 260.4167

Hence, T<span>he greatest amount of antibiotics in Susan’s body is 260.4167 mg.

Part 3:
</span>From the previous 2 components<span> of </span>the matter, we all know<span> that </span>the best quantity<span> of the antibiotic in Susan's body is </span>regarding <span>260.4167 mg and </span>it'll<span> occur right </span>once<span> she has taken the last dose. However, </span>we have a tendency to<span> see that already </span>once<span> the fourth dose she had 260.416 mg of the drug in her system, </span>that is simply<span> insignificantly smaller. </span>thus we will<span> say that </span>beginning<span> on the second day of treatment, </span>double every day there'll<span> be </span>regarding<span> 260.416 mg of the antibiotic in her body. Over the course of </span>the subsequent twelve<span> hours {the </span>quantity<span>|the quantity|the number} of the drug </span>can<span> decrease to 4%</span><span> of </span>the most amount<span>, </span>that<span> is 10</span><span>.4166 mg. Then the cycle </span>can<span> repeat.</span>

If Mitzi has two dogs, a puppy that weighs 25 pounds and an adult that weighs 80 pounds, how much will it cost to bathe them bot
Sidana [21]

Answer:

The correct answer is A) $105

Step-by-step explanation:

In this real-world problem,  the cost to groom both dogs is (the puppy) + (the adult dog) = x.

For the first step, y = 40, if x <= 25.

y = 50, if 25 < x < 50.

if x >= 50, then y = 0.50x + 25

So therefore, substitute the puppy + adult dog = x

25 + 80 = x

105 = x

So, the final answer is $105.

A. The average yearly salary of a lawyer is $24 thousand less than twice that of an architect.
erastovalidia [21]

Answer:

The average yearly salary of  the architect is <u>$62,000</u> and the lawyer is <u>$100,000</u>.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

The average yearly salary of a lawyer is $24 thousand less than twice that of an architect.

Combined, an architect and a lawyer earn $ 210 thousand.

Now, to find the average yearly salary of  an architect and a lawyer.

Let the average yearly salary of  an architect be x.

So, the average yearly salary of  the lawyer = 2x-24,000.

Combined, architect and lawyer earn = \$210,000.

Now, to get the average salary of the architect and lawyer:

x+(2x-24000)=210000

x+2x-24000=210000\\\\3x-24000=210000

<em>Adding both sides 24000 we get:</em>

3x=186,000\\\\Dividing\ both\ sides\ by\ 3\ we\ get:\\\\x=62000.

<u>The average salary of architect = $62,000.</u>

Now, to get the average salary of lawyer by substituting the value of x:

2x-24000\\\\=2(62000)-24000\\\\=124000-24000\\\\=\$100,000.

<u>The average salary of lawyer = $100,000.</u>

Therefore, the average yearly salary of  the architect is $62,000 and the lawyer is $100,000.

City planners are creating a 3-dimensional model of a city park to find the best placement for a new tennis court. The city park
inn [45]
First, divide the original measurements with the scaled ones. You'll get the same answer meaning that is the scale used by the model.
1500 ft. ÷7.5 ft = 200
600 ft. ÷ 3 ft. = 200

To simply check, if you divide 1500 with 200, the answer is 7.5 and 600 divided by 200 is 3.
To find the  scaled dimension of the tennis court with actual dimension of 120 ft by 60 ft, divide both values with the scale used in the model which is 200.

120 ft. ÷ 200 = 0.6 ft
60 ft. ÷ 200 =  0.3 ft

The dimension of the tennis court in the scaled model is 0.6 ft long and 0.3 ft. wide.
