The area of a rectangle is A = L * W.  We have the area as 323 and the length as 17.  Filling in our formula for area then, 323 = 17W.  Divide both sides by 17 to solve for the width.  W = 19

The regular hexagon has a radius of 4 in. What is the approximate area of the hexagon? 24 in.2 42 in.2 48 in.2 84 in.2
masha68 [24]
The central angle of a hexagon is 60°. Dividing it by two will give us 30°. The side opposite to 30° is 2 inches, multiplied by 2 is 4 inches. Thus, each side of the hexagon is 4 inches. Also, the apothem is 2sqrt(3). The area of the figure is calculated through the equation,
                                           A = 0.5aP
where a is apothem and P is perimeter
Substituting,
                                           A = 0.5(2sqrt3)(4 x 6) = 24sqrt3
The answer is approximately 41.57 in².

The probability that Jane will go to a ballgame (event A) on a Monday is 0.73, and the probability that Kate will go to a ballga
cricket20 [7]

<u>Events</u> A and B are called <u>independent</u>, when

Pr(A\cap B)=Pr(A)\cdot Pr(B),

otherwise events A and B are <u>dependent</u>.

The events A, B and A∩B are:

  • A - Jane will go to a ballgame on Monday;
  • B - Kate will go to a ballgame on Monday;
  • A∩B - Kate and Jane both go to the ballgame on Monday.

Pr(A)=0.73,\ Pr(B)=0.61,\ Pr(A\cap B)=0.52.\\ \\ Pr(A)\cdot Pr(B)=0.73\cdot 0.61=0.4453\neq 0.52=Pr(A\cap B).

Answer: events A and B are dependent

The pressure at sea level is 111 atmosphere and increases at a constant rate as depth increases. When Sydney dives to a depth of
tiny-mole [99]

Answer:

we have P(x) = mx + 1

Step-by-step explanation:

Allow me to revise your question for a better understanding:

<em>The pressure at sea level is 1 atmosphere and increases at a constant rate as depth increases. When Sydney dives to a depth of 23 meters, the pressure around her is 3.3 point, 3 atmospheres. The pressure p in atmospheres is a function of x, the depth in meters.</em>

My answer:

Given:

At O meter the the pressure is 1 (0, 1)

At 23 meters the the pressure is 3.3 (23, 3.3)

From that, we can form a linear equation with the standard form:

P(x) = mx + b (1)

The slope of (1) is:

m=\frac{3.3-1}{23-0}=\frac{2.3}{23}=\frac{23}{230}=0.1

<=> P(x) = 0.1x + b

Substitute the point (0, 1) into (1) we have:

1 = 0.1*0 + b

<=> b = 1

So we have the equation of this line will be: P(x) = mx + 1
