Jack placed two orders with a local nursery. The first order was for 13 rose bushes and 4 miniature orchid plants. This order to

taled $500. The second order was for 2 rose bushes and 1 miniature orchid. This order totaled $100. The receipts do not list the price per plant, and Jack would like to know how much each plant cost. This system of equations represents the situation. 13x + 4y = 500 2x + y = 100 In the equations, x represents the cost of each rose bush and y represents the cost of each orchid plant. The graph of this system is shown below. How much does each type of plant cost? The price of each rose bush is $, and the price of each orchid is $.

Hi!

The two equations,
Equation A: 13x + 4y = 500
Equation B: 2x + y = 100

Whatever we do to an equation, we have to do it to both sides.

We need to isolate y on one side in equation B, by subtracting 2x from both sides.
2x - 2x + y = 100 - 2x
y = 100 - 2x
Put the value of y into equation A.
13x + 4(100 - 2x) = 500
Simplify the equation with the distribution property.
4 · 100 = 400
4 · -2x = -8x
13x + 400 - 8x = 500
Continue simplifying
13x - 8x = 5x
5x + 400 = 500
Subtract 400 from both sides
5x + 400 - 400 = 500 - 400
5x = 100
Divide by 5 on both sides.
5x/5 = 100/5
x = 20
Put the value of x into equation B.
2 · 20 + y = 100
Simplify
40 + y = 100
Subtract 40 from both sides
40 - 40 + y = 100 - 40
y = 60

x = 20
y = 60

Let's check our answer by putting the values in both equations.

13 · 20 + 4 · 60 = 500
260 + 240 = 500
500 = 500

2 · 20 + 60 = 100
40 + 60 = 100
100 = 100

The answer is
$20 per rose bush
$60 per orchid plant

Hope this helps! :)

nalin [4]

Answer:

Answer:

Option B is correct.

Miguel should study for the Science quiz as he will do worse in that quiz by guessing.

Step-by-step explanation:

Miguel has to take two quizzes

1) 4 true or false questions on History with a 0.5 chance of acing the quiz

Expected number of correct questions = np

n = number of questions

p = probability of acing the test

Expected number of correct questions = 4 × 0.5 = 2

2) 3 multiple choice questions on Science with a 0.2 chance of acing the quiz.

Expected number of correct questions = 0.2 × 3 = 0.6

It is evident that guessing would yield a worse result in the Science quiz with less than 1 question expected to be correct than history, where he is still expected to get 2 questions correctly by guessing.

Polygons ABCD and EFGH are similar. Find the length of EH?
3241004551 [841]

Most likely, polygon ABCD has sides of known lengths.
It is also likely that one of the sides of polygon EFGH (not EH) is also known. For instance, its side EF.

If the above is true, we can find the scaling factor as a ratio between lengths of corresponding sides:
r=EFAB

Since this ratio is constant for any two corresponding lengths,
r=EHAD

From the last two equations we can derive:
EH=AD⋅EFAB

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME RIGHT NOW.
exis [7]

Answer:

m∠SRV = 48°

Step-by-step explanation:

In the parallelogram attached,

m∠TUV = 78°

m∠TVU = 54°

By applying the property of the angles of a triangle in ΔTVU,

m∠TUV + m∠TVU + m∠UTV = 180°

78° + 54° + m∠UTV = 180°

m∠UTV = 180° - 132°

             = 48°

Sides RS and TU are the parallel sides of the parallelogram and diagonal TR is a transverse.

Therefore, ∠UTV ≅ ∠SRV [Alternate interior angles]

m∠UTV = m∠SRV = 48°

Manuel thinks the tens digit goes up by 1 in these numbers. Do you agree? Explain. 460,470,480, 490,500,510
laila [671]

Answer:

Manuel is correct, since adding 10 is the same as the tens digit going up by 1.

Step-by-step explanation:

It is important to know the concepts of units, tenths and cents.

For example

1 = 1 unit

10 = 1*10 + 0 = The tens digit is one the unit digit is 0

21 = 2*10 + 1 = The tens digit is two and the unit digit is 1.

120 = 1*100 + 2*10 + 0 = The cents digit is 1, the tens digit is two and the unit digit is 0.

So

Adding 1 is the same as the unit digit going up by 1.

Adding 10 is the same as the tens digit going up by 1.

Adding 100 is the same as the cents digit going up by 1.

In this problem, we have that:

460,470,480, 490,500,510

Each number is 10 added to the previous, that is, the tens digit going up by 1.

Manuel thinks the tens digit goes up by 1 in these numbers. Do you agree?

Manuel is correct, since adding 10 is the same as the tens digit going up by 1.
