Juan wants to change the shape of his vegetable garden from a square to a rectangle, but keep the same area so he can grow the s

ame amount of vegetables. The rectangular garden will have a length that is 2 times the length of the square garden, and the width of the new garden will be 16 feet shorter than the old garden. The square garden is x feet by x feet. What is the quadratic equation that would model this scenario?

Short Answer: x^2 - 32x = 0
Square garden has a side of x
Area of the square garden is x^2

The length of the rectangle = 2x
The width is x - 16
Area of the rectangular garden is 2x(x - 16)
Area of the rectangular garden is 2x^2 - 32x

The area of the square and the rectangle must remain the same.
2x^2 - 32x = x^2    Subtract x^2 from both sides.
2x^2 - x^2 - 32x = 0

x^2 - 32x = 0       Technically this is the answer to your question.

If p= (-2,7) find: Rx-axis(P)
Nana76 [90]

Answer:

P(-2,7)

P'(-2,-7), ANSWER

reflection across the x-axis rule:

(×,y) ===> (x,-y)

Easy way to do this is draw the point on graph paper and count the same units above/below the x-axis. This example you are 7 units above the x-axis so you would count 7 units below the x-axis giving you the point.

A print shop makes bumper stickers for election campaigns. If x stickers are ordered (where x < 10,000), then the price per s
Sergeu [11.5K]

Answer:

P(x) = (0.049x - 0.0000015x²)

Step-by-step explanation:

price per sticker is 0.14 − 0.000002x dollars

total cost of producing the order is 0.091x − 0.0000005x² dollars.

P(x) = profit = Revenue - Cost

Let the number of units of stickers made be x

Revenue = (price per sticker) × (total units sold) = (0.14 − 0.000002x) × (x)

= (0.14x - 0.000002x²) dollars.

Cost of producing x units in the order = (0.091x − 0.0000005x²)

P(x) = 0.14x - 0.000002x² - (0.091x − 0.0000005x²) = 0.14x - 0.091x - 0.000002x² + 0.0000005x²

= (0.049x - 0.0000015x²)

P(x) = (0.049x - 0.0000015x²)

Hope this Helps!!!

Stephen says that the numbers 38 and 40 are relatively prime. explain why he is incorrect in making this statement
bonufazy [111]

When you say that two numbers are relatively prime, it means that both numbers do not have a common factor except 1. Stephen is incorrect because 38 and 40 are both multiples of 2.

I hope I answered your question. Thank you <span>J</span>

Before a new video game is released, it is tested by a number of volunteer gamers. During testing, the experimental probability
sesenic [268]

Answer:

2000 players will complete the game with a perfect score.

Step-by-step explanation:

The testing phase tells us that \frac{1}{500} is the probability that a person will finish with a perfect score.

This means 1 out of 500 people will be able to finish with perfect score.

Now,

the game is given to 1,000,000 (1 million) people and how much do we expect to finish with perfect score?? Simple! It would be  \frac{1}{500}the of 1 million!

We do the calculation shown below:

\frac{1}{500}*1,000,000=2000

So, 2000 players will complete the game with a perfect score.

Jack is 27 years older than Susan. In 5 years he will be 4 times as old as she is. Find the present ages of jack and Susan
riadik2000 [5.3K]
X - Jack's age
y - Susan's age

Jack is 27 years older than Susan.
x=y+27

In 5 years he will be 4 times as old as she is.
x+5=4(y+5)

The system of equations:
x=y+27 \\ x+5=4(y+5) \\ \\ \hbox{substitute y+27 for x in the 2nd equation:} \\ y+27+5=4(y+5) \\ y+32=4y+20 \\ y-4y=20-32 \\ -3y=-12 \\ y=\frac{-12}{-3} \\ y=4 \\ \\ x=y+27=4+27=31

Jack is 31 years old and Susan is 4 years old.
