The function 1.5x + 0.5y = 12 represents the number of hardcover books x and softcover books y you can buy at a used book sale.

(a) solve for y

We need to isolate y

1.5x + 0.5y = 12

Subtract 1.5x on both sides

0.5y = 12 - 1.5x

Divide by 0.5 on both sides

y = \frac{12}{0.5} - \frac{1.5}{0.5}

y= 24 - 3x

(b) Table for y= 24 -3x

x -----> y

0 -----> 24

1 ------> 21

2-------> 18

The ordered pairs are (0,24) (1,21)(2,18)

(c) Graph is attached below

How do you write 125.06 million dollars in at least four different ways.
Ludmilka [50]
$125,060,000

one-hundred twenty-five million, and sixty thousand dollars

I mean 125.06 in fraction form is 6253/50, if that works great.

125.06 million dollars, if you can use the number in the question.

A study is being conducted in which the health of two independent groups of ten policyholders is being monitored over a one-year
uysha [10]

Answer:

46.91% probability that at least nine participants complete the study in one of the two groups, but not in both groups

Step-by-step explanation:

We use two binomial trials to solve this question.

Binomial probability distribution

The binomial probability is the probability of exactly x successes on n repeated trials, and X can only have two outcomes.

P(X = x) = C_{n,x}.p^{x}.(1-p)^{n-x}

In which C_{n,x} is the number of different combinations of x objects from a set of n elements, given by the following formula.

C_{n,x} = \frac{n!}{x!(n-x)!}

And p is the probability of X happening.

Probability of at least nine participants finishing the study in a group.

0.2 probability of a students dropping out. So 1 - 0.2 = 0.8 probability of a student finishing the study. This means that p = 0.8.

10 students, so n = 10

We have to find:

P(X \geq 9) = P(X = 9) + P(X = 10)

Then

P(X = x) = C_{n,x}.p^{x}.(1-p)^{n-x}

P(X = 9) = C_{10,9}.(0.8)^{9}.(0.2)^{1} = 0.2684

P(X = 10) = C_{10,10}.(0.8)^{10}.(0.2)^{0} = 0.1074

P(X \geq 9) = P(X = 9) + P(X = 10) = 0.2684 + 0.1074 = 0.3758

0.3758 probability that at least nine participants complete the study in a group.

Calculate the probability that at least nine participants complete the study in one of the two groups, but not in both groups?

0.3758 probability that at least nine participants complete the study in a group. This means that p = 0.3758

Two groups, so n = 2

We have to find P(X = 1).

P(X = x) = C_{n,x}.p^{x}.(1-p)^{n-x}

P(X = 2) = C_{2,1}.(0.3758)^{1}.(0.6242)^{1} = 0.4691

46.91% probability that at least nine participants complete the study in one of the two groups, but not in both groups

Tia Veronica Pam and Lily are sisters. Tia is eight years old and she’s two years older than Pam. Pam is five years younger than
Nastasia [14]

Answer:

Pam (6 years), Tia(8 years), Veronica(11 years) , Lily (15 years)

Step-by-step explanation:

Age of Tia = 8 years

______________________________________________

Given Tia is  2 years older than Pam

mathematically

age  of Pam + 2 years = age of Tia

age  of Pam + 2 years = 8 years

age  of Pam  = 8 years- 2 years = 6 years

______________________________________________

Given Pam is five years younger than Veronica

we can infer that age of veronica is age of Pam + 5 more years

mathematically

age  of Pam + 5 years = age of Veronica

6 years + 5 years = age of Veronica

age  of Veronica   = 11 years

______________________________________________

Given Veronica is four years younger than Lily

we can infer that age of Veronica is (age of Lily - 4  years)

mathematically

age of Veronica = age of lily - 4 years

11 years = age of lily - 4 years

age of lily = 11 years + 4 years = 15 years

age  of lily   = 15 years

______________________________________________

Arranging the list from youngest  to oldest we have

age  of Pam  = 6 years

Age of Tia = 8 years

age  of Veronica   = 11 years

age  of lily   = 15 years

Arranging sisters in order of youngest  to oldest

Pam, Tia, Veronica , Lily
