\boxed{{\text{N}}{{\text{F}}_{\text{3}}}{\text{ and S}}{{\text{O}}_{\text{2}}}} is the pair that is most likely to form a homogeneous solution.

Further Explanation:

Homogeneous solution consists of only one phase. It is formed when the substances are completely dissolved in each other. Solubility is the property of any substance that makes it soluble in other substances. It is governed by the principle “like dissolves like”.

CO and {{\text{C}}_6}{{\text{H}}_{14}}

CO is a polar ionic compound whereas {{\text{C}}_6}{{\text{H}}_{14}} is a non-polar hydrocarbon. Both will not dissolve in each other. So a homogeneous solution will not be formed by CO and {{\text{C}}_6}{{\text{H}}_{14}}.

{\text{C}}{{\text{H}}_{\text{3}}}{\text{N}}{{\text{H}}_{\text{2}}} and {\text{C}}{{\text{H}}_{\text{4}}}

{\text{C}}{{\text{H}}_{\text{3}}}{\text{N}}{{\text{H}}_{\text{2}}} is a polar compound due to the high electronegativity of nitrogen. But {\text{C}}{{\text{H}}_{\text{4}}} is a non-polar covalent compound. Both will not dissolve in each other. So a homogeneous solution will not be formed by  {\text{C}}{{\text{H}}_{\text{3}}}{\text{N}}{{\text{H}}_{\text{2}}} and {\text{C}}{{\text{H}}_{\text{4}}}.

{\text{CB}}{{\text{r}}_{\text{4}}} and {\text{S}}{{\text{F}}_2}

{\text{CB}}{{\text{r}}_{\text{4}}} is a non-polar covalent compound whereas {\text{S}}{{\text{F}}_2} is a polar covalent compound. Both will not dissolve in each other. So a homogeneous solution will not be formed by {\text{CB}}{{\text{r}}_{\text{4}}} and {\text{S}}{{\text{F}}_2}.

{\text{N}}{{\text{F}}_{\text{3}}} and {\text{S}}{{\text{O}}_{\text{2}}}

{\text{N}}{{\text{F}}_{\text{3}}} is slightly polar in nature and {\text{S}}{{\text{O}}_{\text{2}}} is also polar in nature. Also, both are gases. So both will dissolve in each other and therefore a homogeneous solution is formed by {\text{N}}{{\text{F}}_{\text{3}}} and {\text{S}}{{\text{O}}_{\text{2}}}.

A solution on which the solvent and solute are present in a single phase after dissolution is called homogeneous phase. Such solution remains uniform throughout.

The given pairs of substances are:

a. CO and C_{6}H_{14}: CO is a polar gas and C_{6}H_{14}is a non polar liquid. Therefore, this solution will not be homogeneous.

b. NH_{2}CH_{3}and CH_{4}: NH_{2}CH_{3}is a polar liquid while methane is a non polar gas. So, this solution will not be homogeneous.

c. CBr_{4} and SF_{2}:  CBr_{4}is a non polar solid while  SF_{2}is a polar gas. So, they cannot form homogeneous solution.

d.  NF_{3} and SO_{2}: NF_{3} and SO_{2} are both gases. So, they form a uniform homogeneous solution. Both can uniformly interact as they both are polar compounds.

Therefore the correct answer will be  NF_{3} and SO_{2}

Explain why groups 14 and 15 are better representatives of mixed groups than groups 13 and 16
Brrunno [24]
<h3><u>Answer</u>;</h3>

Groups 14 and 15 each contain metals, nonmetals, and metalloids while Group 13 contains metals and a metalloid, and Group 16 contains metalloids and nonmetals.

<h3><u>Explanation;</u></h3>
  • Groups 13–16 of the periodic table contain one or more metalloids, in addition to metals, nonmetals, or both.
  • Unlike other groups of the periodic table, which contain elements in one class, groups 13–16 referred to as mixed groups contain elements in at least two different classes. In addition to metalloids, they also contain metals, nonmetals, or both.
  • <em><u>Group 14 also known as the carbon group contains carbon which is a non metal, silicon and germanium which are metalloids and tin and lead which are metals.</u></em>
  • <em><u>Group 15 also known as the Nitrogen group contains non metals such as oxygen, metalloid tellurium and a metal polonium.</u></em>

In the first paragraph, the words "disrobed," "unveiling" and<br> "deconstructed" primarily serve to
Solnce55 [7]

Complete Question:

In the first paragraph, the words “disrobed,” “unveiling” and “deconstructed” primarily serve to (a) highlight the negative connotations that laser technology currently has, (b) emphasize the extensive reach of laser technology; (c) demonstrate the inherently unknowable characteristics of objects, even with laser technology; (d) implicitly compare lasers to other forms of technology

Answer:

(b) emphasize the extensive reach of laser technology;

Explanation:

The use of the word disrobed and deconstructed from the passage emphasizes the extensive reach of laser technology. Even without looking up the dictionary meaning of the two words, one can easily deduce that the passage is a pro-laser technology one.

  • The passage presents the use of the laser technology in solar exploration.
  • It also show its use by ecologists.

Which of the following shows an accurate combustion reaction?
Jet001 [13]

Answer:

  • <em>Cu + O₂  → CuO₂</em>

Explanation:

A <em>combustion reaction</em> is the reaction with oxygen along with the release of energy in form of heat or light.

Organic compounds (like CH₄) undergo combustion forming water and CO₂.

The combustion reaction of CH₄ is:

  • CH₄ + 2O₂ → CO₂ + 2H₂O

Hence, the first equation from the choices is not showing the combustion reaction of CH₄.

Not only organic compounds can undergo combustion. Metals and no metals can undergo combustion, i.e. metals and no metals can react with oxygen releasing light or heat.

The reaction of copper and oxygen (second choice) is a combustion reaction:

  • <em>Cu + O₂ → CuO₂</em>

The formation of water (2H₂ + O₂ → 2H₂O) is other example of a combustion reaction where no organic compounds are involved.

On the other hand, the other two equations from the choice list are not reactions with oxygen, so they do not show combustion reactions.
